Pours cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma has spice, husky malt and light citrus. Medium mouthfeel with somewhat sharp carbonation. Taste is spicy and husky. Finish is sour and grainy with some lemon citrus. Not a bad Wit - I went in expecting the worst considering some of their other offerings and was pleasantly surprised.

Hazy yellow with a medium quickly diminishing white head. Aroma of yeast, orange peel, light coriander, corn and light bubblegum. Taste of yeast, sweet malt, orange and bubblegum. A touch watery but finishes crisp, sort of seems something like a cross between a hefe and a wit bier.

12 oz bottle. Clear yellow gold color. A wit needs to be a little hazy in my estimation to be attractive. I like blue eyes better than brown and when it comes to wits, I like hazy better than clear. Just a preference. The head dissipated quick snap and didnít leave any lace. If I were a driving instructor that would be two red check marks out of two. Lets move on to aroma. Where to begin...letís see...it smells nothing like a wit. I detected whiffs of grape candy, apple, and light malty caramel. Itís remarkably similar to the Berghoff hefeweizen I tried side by side with it. No citrus zest, no coriander. Flavor wassimilar and equally disappointing. Mouth feel was thin and watery. the red check marks are really adding up.

bottle - Pours clear yellow with a thin head and smells of oranges. The light, sweet flavor has a fair amount of citrus. Itís a little too watery, even for what is typically a light style. Overall itís alright but quite unimpressive.

In the bottle at the HyVee Oktoberfest beer tasting in Council Bluffs. Cloudy yellow with a thin white head. Big orange aroma. This is a breakfast beer! Has a milky finish like a cream soda.

One of the worst drainpours I’ve ever experienced. Fizzy pour of a liquid that is reminiscent of urine. Fake Tang-like orange aroma. Watery, fake orange flavor. Almost like a alka-seltzer.

Pours to a thin golden body with a very thin white head. The aroma is orange juice and wit beer yeast. Coriander. The flavor is orange zest and tart wheaty yeast with coriander. The palate is lightly tart and has a subtle butterscotch.

Pours a nice orange/yellow. Thatís where all things good with this one end. Aroma is horrible, very gasoline like. Flavor is oranges and not in a good way. Kinda like orange soda, very artificial tasting. Not good.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2007 Bottle. Fairly hazy on the pour. A bit of citrus, not terribly complex or full tasting for a wit bier.

Well, Iím trying to get through the rest of the Summer beers I have in the fridge. I have four more to go and this is one of them... The Berghoff Solstice Wit pours a hazy, light maize color with a fizzy white crown that disappears quickly. Visible carbonation is lively. Aroma is citrusy and slightly sweet. Flavor is mostly banana and has hints of sweet orange peel and some coriander in the distance. It also has a slight yeasty tang and a very delicate hop bitterness in the finish. Light to medium body and pretty refreshing overall. This American made Belgian Wit isnít the best around, but it is surprisingly better than many others and probably one of Berghoffís better brews... 12 oz bottle (5.0% ABV according to the label), $0.50 from Samís Wine and Spirits (on sale).
