COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Berghoff Solstice Wit, named for the golden light of the longest day of the year, is a refined, Bavarian-style thirst-quencher. Made with the finest red wheat, 2-row malted barley, and the most sought-after American hops, this is a light, refreshing brew with subtle hints of Curacao orange and coriander. This was the first beer to feature the new Berghoff label design.

From a bottle chilled in the ’fridge poured into a pint glass. Marshmallow fluff-like head that took a bit of time to dissipate. Aroma of hair perm solution (no, I never had one) which belies the flavor. I was surprised that Berghoff actually got one right. This ale actually uses the correct yeast and appears to strike a correct balance of barley/wheat/natural flavors. It even got cloudy when chilled. Nice wit flavor and good for the price of $10 for 12 bottles.

On draught at Bodega in La Crosse. Pours light golden color with a thin white head that dissipates steadily. Very little lacing is apparent. Citrusy aroma with a touch of spices. Light-bodied and very crisp with zesty citrus flavor, as well as some spices and wheat. The finish is very fizzy on the tongue and not overly flavorful aside from some mild spice. Decent but not memorable.

Available in bottle in West Bend, WI. Pours the color of what can only be described as concentrated urine, but smells like bubblegum, bananas, and coriander. There is also a hint of a honey-based wine, perhaps a mead? The mouthfeel is solid but unspectacular, quite fizzy and not too heavy. The taste is the best part: bubblegum and bananas again. It’s really just a good summer beer. Nothing earth-shattering, but a nice smooth and clean experience. 11/20

12oz bottle. Poured a light to medium, and lightly hazy, golden color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of lemons, coriander, light wheat, and light yeast. Tastes of wheat, citrus and very light spices. Thin and watery.

i think this beer is probably unfairly lowballed as a berghoff. objectively, this was a decent to good representation of the wit style. there’s nothing very challenging going on, but it still wasn’t as bad as this website would have you think.

Reviewed as: Witbier Hazy medium yellow. Sudsy head that lingers awhile. Aroma is sweet and yeasty with prominant orange. Yeasty sweetness with a strong orange character, but not much else. Kinda one-noted, lacking spiciness. Seems a little bit on the watery side. All in all, a barely average beer in a good style.

As wheat beers go this is not a memorable one. However, I love that style of beer and probably score it a little higher than it deserves. It had all the characterics of a wheat, slightly orange color, light white foam, hints of orange in the flavor and aroma, etc. There was nothing to not like about this beer but it could have used a few more posistives. Some zing might have helped. It was bought on the close-out table so price was hard to beat. At 75 cents it was a bargain.

This bottled brew poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized of unnoted length white colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body contained soft carbonation, was slightly hazy and light orange brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of mild astringent malt . Its mouth feel is initially tingly bubbly with a lingering bubbly palate and a aftertaste. Its flavor contained mild malt hop wheat bread and dough notes.

12 oz bottle from Woodmans in Beloit, WI. Golden body, slightly hazy, little head...light lemon-sour nose with little spice or malt evident...sour fairly full body, touch citrusy, no yeasty character apparent...bland watery finish.
