puboflyons (408), New Hampshire, USA Aug 14, 2008 From a 1 pint 6 fl. oz bottle that is not dated and has no lot code. Pours a brownish-red and carries a puffy tan head and some lacing. The coffee aroma is strong although the scent is more like spent coffee grinds. There are some malts in the scent. The texture was more watery than expected. The coffee flavor was overwhelming...too much so that it spoiled the experience for me. I am not a big coffee drinker. I was actually worried that it had caffeine!
hellbilly (1019), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Dec 22, 2008 thanks to dogfish120love for the trade...
pours a garnet shade of brown which turns hazy after the yeast is added. it is capped by a fluffy tan head that leaves a bunch of lacy spots and webbing.
aromas of stale coffee beans, a sharp acidity (from cheap coffee or grains?), cooked cream/mild cream cheese, toasty malty grain, caramel and chocolate.
there is a defined acidity on the front palate which is initially unpleasant. that is followed by the aroma only a touch milder... sourness, astringency and a dry spicy finish are all noted. ashiness shows up in the aftertaste. the body is somewhat thin but the texture is slick and creamy. astringency is slight in the back of the mouth.
if i had to guess... i might say this was an old bottle or possibly off.
6/3/6/3/13/3.1 jimhilt (1492), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Nov 1, 2008 Pours a three finger light tan head that fades quickly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Deep mahogany color. Roasted coffee nose. Light-medium carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Flavor is sweet roasted coffee, smooth but finishes as burnt coffee, still very drinkable. $3.94 for a 22oz bottle from Ruggeri & Sons Greenfield, MA. rocbyter (718), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Oct 29, 2008 Robust roasted malts with a slight amount of medicine aroma. Very dark amber color with a small tan head. Initial malt bitterness quickly taking on a roasted coffee flavor. Developing a slight amount of sweetness in the finish. Mildly thick palate. lb4lb (1605), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 26, 2008 Bottles courtesy of joepais and rbuckstar. Thanks!!

Pours a light black to dark brown with a big fluffy beige head. Smell is wet cardboard like malt , and coffee. Taste is like a regular old cup of coffee, and dark roasty malt. Some mild bitterness, but still fairly smooth. Not a bad coffee beer, but not my favorite. Enjoyable. skibumphishead (175), USA Oct 24, 2008 22 shared with brie. It was on sale for 2.99 across the street here in Easthampton. The aroma and initial flavor is sweet coffee. The finish has a little chocolate and nuttiness. I’m glad that I can still get this one anytime because it’s great. BBC is is my favorite local brewery.
