3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft in a 20oz plastic cup during Mike Gordon Band at Mass Moca 4/5/14. Full charcoal black with some brown shades. Minimal and faint head, bubbles of brown cream and solid carbination. Aroma is earthy, heavy malt based roasted flavour. Deep dry chocolate tones, sweet roasty and enjoyable on the pallate, a bit dry going down, as the name suggest, and mild in the aftertaste of coco, molasses and brown sugar. Smooth and easy drinker, fun for the masses if the masses will choose the porter over the steal rail. This is a working mans beer, sort of.

Smooth drinking coffee-esqe porter. Pours with small head and almost no carbonation. Slightly bitter and an easy after taste. Recommend pairing with a rib eye cooked medium rare.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Parker Pie. Pours a dark brown with a low white head that leave superior lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and various roasted things. Taste is a little sweet with milk chocolate impressions but also a nice coffee flavor. Some powdered milk. Carbonation was a touch too high on this one but mouthfeel was still somewhat smooth. Not bad at all, never heard of that brewery. Thanks Parker Pie!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap @ Parker Pie. Dark reddish brown with a medium beige head and heavy lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt and vanilla with a major sweet/milky presence. Taste is about the same with liquorice and caramel. Medium body. Good carbonation. Silky mouthfeel. Ok/good Porter, but too milky and not really complex.

Growler. Pours very dark brown/black with a decent brown head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, toasty malts that are mirrored in its taste. Mildly bitter with notes of toffee, molasses, a bit of oak and floral hops. Average carbonation and bitter finish. Quite nice.

Plenty smooth and not very smoky for a porter. Very fine aroma of coffee, woodsmoke, and a dash of floral hops. Drayman’s is medium-bodied and malty, with some chocolate notes, definitely not one of those grab-you-by-the-lapels kind of porters. An enjoyable brew, like most of BBC’s releases.
