3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JB175 (1665) - Bucks County, USA - JUN 27, 2007
Bottle courtesy of jjpm74. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. (Not sure why I bypassed the Olfabrikken tonight, but I figured it was time for a lighter porter). Aroma of roasted malts and a bit of coffee. Flavor is roasty with some coffee and chocolate - thinner body, but very smooth. Nice porter.

On Cask at Cask Republic in New Haven
Pours very dark, almost black with a very loose & small but very well retained head that leaves some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is roasty with some berries & earthiness. The beer isn’t overly coffee-esque but the roastiness certainly harkens to that tune.
The flavor is roasty in a coffee kind of way with a good level of bitterness all around, some dark chocolate and mild leafy hops. Not as fruit forward in flavor as it is in aroma, but that’s fine. This is a very straightforward and very delicious example of this style.
Hot Damn that is some fine porter.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 matalec1984 (42) - Massachusetts, USA - APR 15, 2012
Poured from bottle
Deep Brown color with ruby highlights. Solid two finger tan head with plenty of lacing.
Aroma was sweet and compelx. Plenty of roasted and chocolatey notes, as well as a linger nose of hops. The hops didn’t give off a very unique nose but did a nice job of balancing out the malts.
Flavor was full of chocolate with enough bitterness from the hops to not have it feel over whelming. Fun to drink, but felt a little chewy going down. Sweetness is long lasting in the aftertaste and slowly dies down leaving a slight bitter taste in the end.
A nice complex porter that balance sweet and bitter very well.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Scopey (1659) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 6, 2012
Bottle at Chriso’s Fullers-Gales tasting, thanks to Leighton. It pours deep ruby-brown, with a thick beige head. The nose is sulphur, egg, roasted malt, charcoal and chocolate. The taste is chocolate, salted caramel, cola, roasted malt, tangy fruit, blueberry and blackberry, with a sweetish finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Interesting but tanginess and some sulphur on the nose suggest that this is not on its top form (I hope anyway).
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Leighton (4091) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 13, 2012
Bottle I brought to chriso Vintage Tasting. Pours brown with a sturdy, beige foam head. Dusty cocoa and roasted malts in the nose. Lightly tangy cocoa and dark malts in the flavor, some mild leaves. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, some more light cocoa, though with this tanginess I don’t think this is top condition. Will try again sometime.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dimenhetfield (1730) - , Florida, USA - FEB 6, 2012
On cask at Mead Hall with cacao nibs and chilies. Seemed very intriguing but failed my expectations. Not a lot going on in terms of chili but there was a tad more chocolate then I was expecting. Decent.

Pours black with a think off white head. General roasted porter aroma. The flavor though is very sweet for a porter, almost tastes like red vines. Smooth finish.
