UPDATED: MAR 2, 2009 2002 Bottle: A coppery/orange tint to this one. Lots of floaties. The head was non-existent. Strong nose of alcohol and fruits. Very sweet aroma. The taste is very sweet: the sweetness almost overpowers everything else. Hints of fruit and malts coming through. Maybe this needs to sit for more than the year that I let it rest. A little harsh. I should have picked a better one for #600. Re-rate: 2008 vintage. This beer is vastly improved from the past. There is a small head on it now, that leaves some lacing. The overpowering sweetness is gone. The beer is now very smooth and drinkable. Some hops evident in the taste now. Very Nice!

2002 bottle. An orangy, fruity aroma with a touch of that alcohol stuff. amberish-browny color that looks flat...but upon tasting it, it's fairly well fizzy. Slight alcohol sting on the tongue as it goes down with residual rasin .

Bottle 2002: Good nose, fruity. Orange, apple, vanilla. Hazy orange-amber color. Kinda sherry like with plum/raisan flavor. oily, thin creamy finish. Finishes quicker than most. Can't get excited about this one.

Hazy dark orange. A woody hoppiness in the nose with hints of vanilla and a thick maltiness. Body is sweet with a big maltiness. An alcohol shot shoots through but this barley wine ends rather quickly and verges on being thin.

Nice not offensive sweet aroma. A bit cloudy amber. Malt and hops that made nice combination,

2002. Copper w/ slight head. Sweet malt nose w/ some alcohol & hops. Not particularly interesting. Some fruit, some wood, some bitterness & lots of alcohol (too much).

Malt, hops scent, chestnut colour, small toffee head. Woody, dried fruit flavour. Bitter, with a hint of burnt malt. Good, but not much of a Barley Wine.

Amber; aroma of sorbitol candy, oranges, earth, and pine. Strong malt - a somewhat one-dimensional malty barley wine. English style.

I beleive this was a bottle from 2001. Full bodied, naturally, with a big caramel taste. I didn’t taste any alcohol at all, which is always deceiving. I came out of this glass a little tipsy, as my girl likes to say.

Light fruit aroma, hint of alcohol. Clean off white foamy head. Ruby copper/amber hue. Nice chewy malts, light fruitiness, clean refreshing hoppy ending. Pleasant, alcohol is slightly evident. Big beer, very pleasant.
