ucusty (849), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jul 23, 2008 Tasted at the Carolina Crew gathering, Greenville NC - Dark copper pour. Big oaky nose. Carmel, vanilla, and bourbon. JCB (889), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 21, 2008 Tasted at the Carolina Crew gathering, Greenville - thanks to ucusty for sharing! I’d been wanting to try some Berkshire stuff, and this was a nice robust Scotch beer. Barrel was present immediately in the nose, a bit too assertive with both the oak and bourbon heat. But my fears were allayed somewhat when I tasted it, because the flavors were integrated quite well, heat, barrel, and malts dancing together nicely. emacgee (976), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jul 21, 2008 Thanks Ucusty. Pours a translucent dark copper with a thin copper head. The nose is spicy, lots of vanilla and oak, bourbon is there for sure, sweet, caramel, lightly bready. The flavor shows lots of barrel aging, spicy oak and bourbon, warming bourbon, caramel, malty. I was very impressed with this one. Rciesla (712), Brick City, New Jersey, USA May 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark scotch color with a thin tan head. Aroma is nice with a bourbon, vanilla, oaky, sweet malty nose. Flavor is that plus caramel. Wish this one had a bit more bourbon flavor. Lothore (226), California, USA Apr 26, 2008 A- Pours a deep ruby color with a small, wispy head which vanishes fairly quickly.
S- Smell is mostly bourbon with quite a bit of sweetness.
T- Taste is dominated by the bourbon barrel all the way through however there is a hop presence in the middle and a sweetness which balances it out very well.
M- Somewhat thick with a good amount of carbonation.
D- This one is incredibly balanced and an easy sipper all the way through.
