Very light all around IPA. Nothing off or offensive, but simply a írun of the millí ale. Smoothy body is nicely balanced with light swett malts and lightly bitter and citrusy hops. This brewer has some interesting porters and stouts, so go for those first!

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Had a semi-hoppy aroma, but mostly a green apple, citus nose. I would say not really hoppy, but mostly fruity flavors. No malt flavors up front, medium finish. Decent.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at VT Brewers Fest - Copper amber in color with a whitish head that filled the top of the glass. Aroma is of hops and citrus. Flavor is citrus/grapefruit and medium bitter hops. A good IPA although a bit light on the alcohol compared to the ones I like the best, but an overall good effort.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 27, 2004 On tap at Vermont Brewers Fest. 3 oz sample. Grains citrus, orange/grapefruit in the nose. Transparent copper with an off-white head. Creamy, smooth cittrus with a nice bitter kick, but not too bitter. Nicely balanced.
Re-rate: Bottle. IMpressive roasted malts than I did not detect the first time I had at the festival. This is still a very nice IPA and well balanced. I will incread the aroma and flavor by a point as well as the overall by a point.

Good with pizza. I suppose itís got the hops to make this feel somewhat like an IPA, but itís almost TOO balanced. Reminds me of their regular ale, just weaker, and to be honest, a bit easier to drink.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This one was a gusher and nearly exploded all over my keyboard! Pours a copper body with a tall tan head. VERY carbonated! Aroma is sort of earthy and hoppy. Some fruity notes as well. The taste is mildy hopped with more earthy notes and light spice. Some sweeter flavors come through randomly in spots and make this a very pleasant tasting beer. The mouthfeel is surprisingly smooth and lacking the bitterness and oily body I was expecting. The finish seems to be more of the earth tones and spice. Very drinkable! I can see this going well with seafood, for some reason.

Iím thinking Cascades and lots of them. Pours with a froth, full white head, slightly hazy orange colored. Aroma is floral, and piney with malty sweetness. Flavor is earthy, like old cut grass and trigs. Creamy bodied. Balanced finish. Very Good IPA.

Pour looks like any other average IPA. White fluffy head. Taste is hoppy and crisp but not much of a bite. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Decent stuff.

Nice head, fair color; strange, unfamiliar aroma. Flavor is a blend of coffee and over-ripe fruit; fortunately, this fades to a malty aftertaste after 20 seconds or so. In sum, this beer is appropriately named: The "lost" sailor is no accident!
