Apearance seems nice enough, deep amber and nice head out of the bottle. However, the aroma and flavor are very strong of butter. Quite sweet and nasty! Avoid this one.

Pours a medium-dark amber, large white head, mostly lasting, laces very nicely. Aroma is stron - lots of butterscotch, toffee and caramel, with just a bit of toasty malt in the back. Flavor is dominated with the butterscotch, almost like one of those butterscotch hard candys you sometimes get, or maybe werthers original (that was what my wife said it tasted like). Slick and smooth mouthfeel. Something doesn't seem right with this - it looks good, but aroma and taste seem to be off.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2005 Bottle: Good nose. Fruity, that signature is there again, peachy, honey, and a little banana. A little carmel. Nice amber color, on the orange side. Sweet malty/fruity flavor. A little bitterness, but leaves you with a sweet carmel/banana finish. I can’t complain about it. Well made and fresh.

muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - OCT 10, 2002
22oz bomber. Pours dark, semi-cloudy amber, small smooth head. Nose VERY sweet, malty, butterscotch, hints of vanilla and licorice, no floral/hoppiness. Like the last rater, I didn’t find it as sweet as others, but it certainly is on the malty side, and has some unpleasant stale flavors as well. Good body; but overall a disappointment.

This seemed at little dark for an Oktoberfest, but the smell was familiar and malty. I read the reveiw befor I bought it, but I did not taste the sweetness that the other two mentioned. It tasted like your standard Oktoberfest. Overall, it is not the best beer they make...

A mediocore oktoberfest. Has a decent malty flavor, but as Volgon said it is too sweet. Dont think I will try this one again.

This beer is simply too sweet. Skip this one and try one of the Berkshire’s stouts or porters.
