halfonit (972) - Fall River, USA - SEP 4, 2010
Available at Chancellors Wine and Spirits. Poured a deeper and darker golden color. Aroma is on malts, yeast, and a little chocolate. Flavor is very earthy and includes, malts and brown sugar. It’s one of the better Oktoberfest brews I’ve had in a while.

22oz bottle. The oktoberfest has had a few issues in the past 2 years as I have heard during the lagering. Pours a very decent orange/dark amber hue, minimal head, but decent carbonation. Aromas are quite malty, caramel notes fairly light. Palate follows through with a high malt and caramel profile through the finish. Smooth and tastier than past few years.

Decent Oktoberfest. Poured a copper color with offwhite head. Aroma was caramel, leaves, and fruity sweetness. Taste is not fresh clean and malty like I expect out of a good marzen, but its more sweet and rich like i would expect out of an 8% dopplebock. Its not bad but its not real good either.

When I think Marzen I think crisp. This is malty and a rich. Not a bad beer just a medicore Oktoberfest.

A: The beer pours amber in color with a couple fingers of khaki colored head. S: Aromas of toffee and bread with a subtle toasted malt character. There is a fair bit of yeast as well as some fruity esters such as apples. A touch of caramel in there, too. T: A bit of a popcorn type flavor, maybe caramel corn when combined with the caramel sweetness. Toffee and toasted bread malts are also present. Some yeast and fruity, sweet esters. M: Medium bodied and medium carbonation. O: A bit one note, but not a bad Oktoberfest.

crazyvin (1572) - New York, USA - OCT 6, 2011
Poured a medium amber body with a thin light tan head lacking any retention or lace. Aroma was all sweet malts, mixing a strong caramel note and a mild brown sugar note. Flavor was very sweet, not cloying but still sweet. A little one-dimensional. Palate was mild and body was somewhat thin. Mildly carbonated.

22 oz. bottle poured a red amber in color with a thin covering of white head. aroma has sweetness, toffee, mild spices, and sweet malt. mouth feel is medium and has decent carbonation. flavor has sweet malts, burnt caramel, gets a bit sticky from the sweetness, and some bitter hops on the finish.

On tap. Brown-orange, tiny head. Aroma caramel and brown sugar. Medium body, a little syrupy. Sweet caramel flavor, a little spice, not really noticing any hops or anything. Representative of the style, not bad.

22 oz bottle from Table and Vine. West Springfield,MA. For $4.49. A good price for a nice brew. Can’t tell color or head from a 12 oz plastic cup, however none of that matters. he flavor makes this shine. Caramel and a malt / sweet nose. Medium mouthfeel, Caramel and toffee are the biggest factors here, with a light European hop in the finish, behind the sweetness. A really nice Marzen. I liked this brew overall.

22oz bottle. The pour looks great with very little head. The color is dark orange and fits the style perfectly. The taste is caramel and a hint of metallic German hops in the finish. The hops ramp up as it warms up in my tall Hobgoblin glass. Yummmy, can’t wait for the leaves to change colors!

Best by: 01/28/12. 22 oz bomber into a pint glass. A - Clear dark brown/copper body. A mocha head formed and stuck around for a few minutes. S - Lots of bready malts and spices. Little bit of alcohol. T - Lots of great malt flavor; bread, toffee, caramel, and yeast. The spice note is smooth and well balanced. Alcohol can be noticeable as it warms up. Nice carbonation and a medium mouth feel. O - A very well done Oktoberfest. Props to BBC for making some really solid brews.
