pours a clear golden amber. Nose is very disappointing with no raspberry to speak of just is some sweet caramel malt and alcohol. the flavor is no better with drab malt sweetness and only the faintest hint of any raspberry.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Mostly clear amber, minimal off-white head. Aroma ok although unexciting, some malt and bread and faint fruit. Medium-full body, some alcohol. Flavor is mildy sweet and syrupy and malty and there is a little hops and definite although not overly prominent raspberry to be detected in the background. Normally not a fan of fruit beers but in this case the raspberry actually keeps it more drinkable, preventing the alcohol and syrupy flavors from being overwhelming. However, I am not clear that beer should require fruit flavors to make it work.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle. Labeled of course as the raspberry barleywine, thanks FDA. Pours out a nice deep ruby hue, slight browns, decent carbonation. Aromas are not overwhelming raspberry, but mixed with sweeter caramel malts, shines through. Palate most would think, is cloyed, however decently balanced because the bitterness does hit home in the finish with a caramel raspberry entry. Decently boozy however, the 9 percent isn’t very well hidden, but in the end I would have been surprised if it were. 22oz’s of this should be shared for sure.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle - 22 oz) Slightly red amber pour with a creamy looking white head. Sweet fruity aroma with a good amount of raspberry tartness in it. Flavor is loaded with the raspberry sweetness that lingers all the way through to the finish which is sweet and malty and tart.
