Oakes (7047), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 7, 2002 Dark amber, very thick malt and earthy hops, rich toffeeish character, rooty hop dryness. Definitely has a ’pre-prohibition’ taste. hopscotch (4756), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle... Clear, light golden ale with a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Excellent retention. Biscuit malt and a dash of lemon compose the aroma. Medium-bodied with ticklish carbonation. Leans just a hair toward the bitter side of balance. Pale malt sweetness is barely overpowered by spicy, citric hop bitterness. Very, very lightly acidic. Crisp, and then dry finish. Bottle provided by scubarex! acrdz (4535), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jan 7, 2008 Bottle from a beer gift pack. Probably the most yellow I’ve seen an amber ale, but I understand that’s really just a placeholder in this case. This could well be a pale or premium lager only it’s not lagered. So there you go. Corn adjunct nose with corn syrup and fuel notes. Sour, moldy grains with an extremely thin and watery texture. Pretty bad stuff. JPDIPSO (4404), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Nov 1, 2005 Light amber color with a bubbly dissipating off white head. Heavy malt and lightly dry herb hops aromas. Not great, but interesting. Earthy malt and caramel flavors. Mild licorice seems to invade late in the quaff. Has an english, early ale type quality. Linger is strong and bitter. Magicdave6 (4153), London, Greater London, England Jan 13, 2008 From girt set of 6 of what i thought could be "win" beers, but seemingly not. Aroma is sweet grainy malts. Taste is similar but this tart sour bitterness, that may have been great but the bitterness ruined it. I doubt this was off but strange overly carbonated too, meaning it was actually really difficult to drink quickly, which is what i wanted to do it get it out the way.
