Hand-Pumped Cask @ Bukowski’s Tavern, Boston, MA: Very delicate aroma, deep red/brown in colour, no head to speak of. The taste was heavy in alcohol, some good caramel sweetness, and a heavy maltiness that - by the time I was done - I was finding somewhat cloying. Still, an exciting one for me.

On cask. Pours copper with a thin filmy head. Smells of peat, roses, some caramel and toffee. Tastes malty with some nice butterscotch like elements.

AOBF ’04: Clear orange/red/brown with a small head. Sweet caramel and smoked malts in the nose. Full bodied with lively (but soft) carbonation. Long sweet ending with a touch of lambic funkiness.

Art of Beer Festival 2004: Has a dark amber/brown color with some carbonation and moderate head. Smell is of smoked/roasted malts. Taste is of smoked malts more than roasted and finishes somewhat smooth with little bitterness. Overall pretty good, but this brewery can do better.
