Bottle, february 08. Very dark, traslucent brown/ ruby color with a medium, bubbly light tan medium head. Crystal, slightly roasty flavors with a slight methallic note and some cereal graininess. Medium mouthfeel, tasty with a full toffee flavor and a short finish. Very faint aroma with some toffee and fruity notes. OK, nice and tasty dark lager.

Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Dark red-amber colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Dark fruit notes. Moderate bitter flavor. Very week roasted notes combined with some fruit! Average moderate bitter finish. OIly palate. Strange schwartzbier but I really enjoyed it.

Beershine (4712) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - FEB 11, 2011
Bottle from Aufsturz, Berlin. Dark brown. Metallic aroma is sweet and cola-like with ferrous/iron-like aftertaste. Disappointing. Thin, simple, and drinkable.

Rasmus40 (4112) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - JAN 25, 2011
Clear red brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet caramel and light roasted malt. Flavor is moderate sweet. There is not enough roasted malt and maybe because of this it isn’t dry enough and too sweet. 040111

Biggish coarseish brown head. Deep dark red body. Vague papery mealy aroma. Dry-sweet wild berries and paper taste with faint roasty notes. Mild mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Dry earthy papery aftertaste with mealy notes. Incredibly low on taste. A real disappointment. (0.5l bottle from Schönefeld Airport, Berlin. Label says Schultheiss/BK, and 5.4%.)

(Bottle, Aufsturz, Berlin, 22 July. According to the label now brewed by Berliner Kindl/Schultheiss) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with cola, chocolate and dark bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and cola. Leaning in the thin direction, with some sweetness and low bitterness. Decent but a bit bland.

Bottle at Aufsturz, Berlin, 21 March 2009. Nice deep red/brown colour with a diminishing white head. Slightly sweet with a subtle sour edge. Nothing special. Fruity but not very roasty. Light body. Didn’t really hit the spot for me - I prefer a bit more presence in a Schwarzbier.

downender (4382) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 8, 2009
Bottle. Dark brown in colour with reddish tones and a decent, off-white head. Dark chocolate, caramel and prune aroma. Rich, malty flavour, with nuts, raisins, liqourice, marzipan and chocolate. Finish was soft and dryish. Great.
