Nice nutty taste with hint of smoke. A nice Autumn brew that satisfies. Good dark color with a nice foamy head. Malty aftertaste that is pleasant.

Pours a medium brown with a good sized head. Aroma has plenty of brown malts, with caramel and hints of raisins. The flavor is somewhat reedy, reminds me of cardboard on fruit somehow. The finish is sweeter than the rest. Pretty good, especially considering the price.

Bottle, off-license from sunny Berlin, Germany.
Sparkling, fiery copper body that had fine streams of carbonation leading up to a rather dense, creamy pad of foam that grew, receded a little, held there and laced well down the stein. Treacly, sweet, savoury malt aroma borderlining on aged dark fruits (served quite cool, not cold it delivered quite well) with a depth of warm, fresh baked bread and soft caramel. In the mouth it is well charged, bouncing a little too unconvincingly across the tongue with lightning pace. Sweet, sticky but light in body, drying out before the swallow. Some toffee, good big roasted and toasted malts and a light tang across the sides show, joining forces on the palate, quite in control but not all too sufficiently to make this a good double bock. Finish has a very light bitterness from the malt before a long savoury and sweet malty swallow that just continues the palate. No depth here. Not at all complex, it was easy to drink. But, I love a Doppelbock that is difficult to skoal, easily heavy and seductive, this is not that Bock. One to taste again. (50cL, 30/04/07)

(bottle) Clear dark copper colour with a small creamy off-white foam. Sweet toasty malty aroma with caramel and shy fruity notes in the background. Mild sweet toasty flavour, medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel; medium dry toastmalty with a touch of bittering hops and a bit of chocolate in the aftertaste. Lacks complexity but is quite enjoyable and aromatic with well-integrated alcohol.

(Bottle 50 cl) Yet another brew from the enterprising "Beliner Bürgerbräu". Dark golden, very limited head. Almost no nose. Typical notes of caramel-malt and some slightly roasted touches. Some sweetness well balanced by a late hoppiness. Very harmonious and delicate bock-beer. 191099

Bottle. Red-brown colour with a big white head. Malty aroma and a sweet malty caramel taste. Medium body and a sweet dry finish.
