2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Very light bodied pilsener. Very clean malt profile and free of all esters. A little too light on the hops. Easy drinking but not very interesting.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tried this one a number of occasions in Berlin, don’t think I liked it.
Typically pale, slight bit bread on the nose with a faint note of floral hops. Bitterness is there but the lingering yeastiness I get was offputting at best. Disappointing.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Aldi. Pours a very light yellow colour, has a good malty aroma, easy drinkable, not very special, but pleasant.

1.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Quite a poor pilsener really, doesn’t look great very little on the taste and aroma front but probably quite a good session beer

Bottle. Light goldden colour with small white head. Refreshing enough on a hot day, average enough german pils

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
50cl bottle from Aldi. A bland and boring German lager. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing to make it stand out. Bright straw in colour with a billowing white head; clean flavour and a pleasantly hopped finish.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
0.5 l bottle as a gift from Berlin.
It presents a clear golden with a medium and broad pored head, the carbonation’s average.
The nose is grainy and malty.
It begins crisp, the taste is sweet, flavour’s of straw.
The middle has a light aroma of cereals and grassy hops, the bleakly aftertasted finish is hoppy, just a bit spicy and tiny dry.
An easy drinkable pale stuff with medium body and a light aroma...

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 29, 2010 Bottle from Aldi. Pah! Can’t believe the kicking this is getting. Bright gold with a high, pocked white head. Fresh, resiny aroma mingling pine sap, dandelion and lemon. Picks up some honey, biscuit and chamois leather as it warms, plus something a bit vegetal and Chinese-like: water chestnut? All the balanced hop and malt character suggested by the aroma; vanilla, honey and sappy, shrub-like hop finished with pilsy bite. Hopfenextrakt? Not arsed. Soft and mineral slick; lingers with breadstick and honey. Sometimes a proper pilsener straight out of the fridge hits the spot like nothing else. Going back for some more of this: it might just be my World Cup glugger of choice; something I can slug back in quantity without analysis, and savour every sip.
