Ungstrup (11930), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 16, 2006 A hazy orange beer with a fast disappearing head. The aroma is sweet with quite a lot of wheat, but also a slight acidity. The flavor is acidicly fresh with notes of grapefruit. The acidity draws out some mouthwater. But it also has light notes of wheat. A very refreshing beer. Papsoe (11421), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 2, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) To drink pure Berliner Weisse is not quite as extreme as drinking Gueuze - but it comes close. It is a strange brew indeed. Oddly, pale hazy with an almost absent absent head. "Prickly and tart" the back-label claims which is very close to the point. Weird lactic taste and no real sense of malt or hops. I don’t believe this ever becomes a favourite of mine. 140100 omhper (11030), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 30, 2003 Bottled. Pale yellow, hazy with shallow head. Acidic raspberry aroma which is bordering to a hint of raisiny malta.
Light bodied and crisp, refreshing and lemony, but slightly papery. Black cherry finish. yespr (8540), Copenhagen O, Denmark Dec 14, 2007 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a huge white head. Wheat and slight acidic nose. Flavour is citric/acidic with a mellow wheat note, has a mild malt base too. Finish is much the same way, not unpleasant. I’ve had this in Berlin as well, pure - which raised an eyebrow. Oakes (7047), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Dec 26, 2000 Taken neat, this is an assertively sour example, with a reasonable degree of complexity.
