Bottle bought at Ambrosetti in Berlin. Based on the score and multiple ’you can no longer get good Berliner Weisse in Berlin’ statements I thought this was going to be crap. Pour is hazy, thick straw yellow with a wispy foam on top. Nose is a little doughy with some definite lively tartness in back. Palate actually has a fair amount of body and is alive with astringency. Flavor is quite solid with some doughy maltiness up front followed by intense, lasting sourness. This is actually damn good. I’m no sour or Berliner Weisse aficionado but I think this has the style fairly well down, is intensely sour, and is excellent value (I think it was1.5 Euro). This will be a staple for me in Berlin. Who says you can’t get decent Berliner Weisse in Berlin?

Vanskelig å vurdere men den var klar før den ble blandet med kirsebæesirup. Smakte da altså kirsebær.....

330ml bottle served in a tumbler glass (similar to a bowl). A: Pours a very pale yellow color. Slightly cloudy. Forms a medium to small fizzy head that disappears instantaneously leaving very few pointy lacings in the glass. Some thin particles can be seen in the liquid. S: Sour and fruity. Strong notes of apple, pear and lemon. Hints of sweet pale malts and wheat. A bit metallic. T: Slightly sweet malts in the upfront. Notes of apple, pear and lemon in the mouth. Notes of wheat. Quite biscuity. In overall, a very dry and acid taste. Strong carbonation. Metallic hints. Reminds a lemon juice with no sugar :). M: Very light body. Strong and fizzy carbonation. Acid and lemony aftertaste. O: Good drinkability. Most probably the most weird beer style I’ve ever had. Reminded me a little bit a Belgian Gueuze or a Flanders Wild/Sour. Interesting

0.5 l bottle from Berlin. Clody light golden color, average head, nice sour smell. Very intensive sour wheat aroma, like lemon juice. Very refreshing fruity taste, like citrus mixed with water. Citrus ending.

The first one in the style for me so I cannot compare. I enjoy the sourness and refreshing qualities. But compared to other sours like a lambic it is a bit one dimensional. There is sourness some citrus and very little malts and yeast in the flavor. Concidering the lowish scores this one has on ratebeer I am curious about the top performers in the style.

21.10.2014, 0,33l bottle shared with a colleague @ hotel room in Ulsteinvik:
Small fizzy mediumlasting head, very light color. Aroma is mild sour-ish grassy, wet grain, wet paper, grass, cereal, boiled vegetables, sorrel, minerals. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish, wet grass, sorrel, paper, wet hay, grain, berry skin. Little bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Very boring.

Bottle from SarkyNorthener cheers Martin; clear straw yellow pour with a thin white head, metallic aroma, taste has lemon sherbet, just a hint if sourness, refreshing and crisp.

Bottle shared at the RBESG 2014, grand tasting. Pleased to have tried the archetype of the style. Pineapple juice like green / yellow coloured pour with a lasting white head. Aroma is doughy wheat, sharp lemon. Flavour is sharp lemon, grapefruit, puckering sour. Palate is crisp sharp, dry finish. I have no iea as to why people are bagging on this.

Zarkam (460) - Helsinki, FINLAND - OCT 19, 2014
330ml bottle from gourmondo.de, hazy pale yellowish colour, medium fizzy mostly vanishing white head, hardly any lacing. Lightly malty aroma of grain and straw with a hint of grassy hops. Taste is initially somewhat sour, getting quickly overwhelmingly so and with a hint of bitterness in the astringent finish. Light body, dry mouthfeel, average carbonation. Almost like drinking carbonated lemon juice, quite refreshing but the overwhelming bitterness might be too much to most without some flavoured syrup added.

Goldish color with a tin white head. Citrus aroma. Sour taste of citrus and some wheat.
