Bottle bought at Ambrosetti in Berlin. Based on the score and multiple ’you can no longer get good Berliner Weisse in Berlin’ statements I thought this was going to be crap. Pour is hazy, thick straw yellow with a wispy foam on top. Nose is a little doughy with some definite lively tartness in back. Palate actually has a fair amount of body and is alive with astringency. Flavor is quite solid with some doughy maltiness up front followed by intense, lasting sourness. This is actually damn good. I’m no sour or Berliner Weisse aficionado but I think this has the style fairly well down, is intensely sour, and is excellent value (I think it was1.5 Euro). This will be a staple for me in Berlin. Who says you can’t get decent Berliner Weisse in Berlin?

Has none of the complexity of the lambrics being lighter and weaker. Nothing at all special. Really made to go with some syrup. Still it aint half bad and makes a decent cheap sour beer. Is a bit thin and watery in the end though.

Bardzo przyjemne. Delikatne, kwaśne, orzeźwiające i o solidnym nasyceniu.

Aroma of lactobacillus, lemon and wheat. Appearance: Head high, not very dense, falls down quickly. Taste: Lacto sourness - high to medium level, wheat, light herbal hopiness somewhere, lemon. Palate: Finish is tart and sour, carbonation is high, body is low.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. My first Berliner weisse and boy it’s really sour. Hazy light yellow with a white head. Sour wheat aroma. Sour taste with a thin watery slightly wheaty finish. Nice to try again but this will not be a regular for me.
