2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 akostajti (25) - HUNGARY - JUN 9, 2013
I expected much more from the "flagship beer" of Berlin. Although the aroma is ok, the taste is a bit watery.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Pawola22 (3180) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 9, 2013
On tap at several places throughout Berlin. Pours a clear, straw colored body with an inch thick, foamy and frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is slightly oxidized with a light DMS note, some lightly sweetened pils malts, grass, and a few fruity hints. Flavor is better. Not as much oxidation or DMS. A bit grainy and lightly sweetened with an even grassiness throughout. Finishes dry and lightly bitter before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent pilsner. Nothing special, but not bad.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BlackHaddock (2440) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAR 11, 2013
Berlin is awash with this Pilsner: has it taken the best of ’Berliner Kindl’ and ’Schulthesis Pils’ from the 80’s before the wall fell, or is it an all new super-brew made with the cheapest ingrediants available?
It’s not the former: it’s a basic golden, bright Pilsner with all the usual attributes; but nothing to stand it apart from all the rest. Crisp? Yes. Clean? Yes. Refreshing? Yes, but is it interesting? No.

On tap at a Berlin hostel. Lame pour. Somewhat skunky smell. Thin taste, albeit the hop taste isn’t repulsive as the aroma may imply. Simply a pretty poor pilsner all around.
