3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
[tap in Berlin]
Aroma is fruity from hops: strawberry and delicious apple. Also pale malt in the nose. Clear straw with a nice white flanel cover that forms lace on the glass. Typical German pils flavour that is not off balance, but bland. Light body, moderate carbonation, and a lasting bitterness.

Bottel.50cl. Aroma is hayísh like and malty. A bit too dry and metalic, but the bitterness is just right.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JUN 24, 2013 Can, 50 cl. Clear golden, medium white head. Quite OK malt aroma, some hops, weak bitterness. A decent beer but quite bland for a german pilsener.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. Just another Berlin style pils. Not a bad one though. Pours clear gold, taste is some hops. Not bad, not awesome either.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2008 I was in Berlin in 2000, so this is a really retrospective rating! The reason I want to share my hazy memories of this unremarkable Pilsner with you is that at the time I thought it was sublime. I was young and had never drunk a decent Larger beer in a country that took it seriously before, and it opened my eyes - In the correst glass, nice head, crisp palate. Can’t recall the flavour. Happy memories - OK a re-rate here. I’ve just come back from a ’Lads’ trip to Berlin, so needless to say I necked alot of this., and its better than I remember: there’s a nice doughy yeastiness in the flavour, particluarly in the finish with a good easy drinking smooth palate. A good pils, specially on draught.

Bottle: Straw golden, quite firm white head, sticking to the glass; grainy, a bit cardboardy nose with hints of a grassy bitterness; moderate bitter flavour with a little sweetness, light bodied; grassy, bitter finish with a malty illusion. A typical "northern-german" Pilsener, not really unpleasant, but..............
