An unusual masterpiece, thanks to Georgina for bringing from her hometown. From the re-sealable cap through the finish, this style turned me and my mates on my head. Why did I agree to share it? Starting as a tart and sweet stout with roastiness and coffee and some chocolate, it moved through as a dunkel and finished with a mildly sour but beautiful yeast at the end of the bottle. Appearance: Mocha head and retaining lace. Its unpasteurized, but drunk fresh. Been imitated, but had the real thing.

Outstanding dark beer. Heavy molasses and malt flavor. Slight twist of burning sugar, chocolate and some bitterness on the aftertaste with licorice tones. Head was creamy, but not overly so. Was able to have the hard to find Grolsch popper top in Czech Republic. Easily one of the best dark beer in the Czech Republic. Purchased for 60 Krowns in super grocery store (about $1.50 US). Gotts love those currency exchanges!

Tap in Pilsen and also bottled. I found this to be more like a schwarzbier. Lightly roasted malt, full, dry soft mouthfeel, with some hop bitterness in the finish. Soft banana yeastyness noticed, more so in the bottled version. Lovely, roasty and smooth, very more-ish.

Draught at Sir Toby’s Hostel. Black colour with a beautiful ruby appearance and a thick tan head that fades back to lace. Fruity, malty aroma, some caramel, molasses, and burnt sugar. As it warms, the fruity richness of the malts really start to come forward, brown sugar, molasses, caramel. Flavour shows a fairly sweet character and a clean finish. A hint of flowery Saaz hops in the nose.

Caramelized suagar, roasty malts, toasted marshmallow, toast. Dark brown-black clear with tan lacing head. Medim watery-oily body with smooth carbonation. Starts dry, tasty, with light carbonic acidity. Muted sweetness of toasted sugar, Finish is light acidic, little sweetness. After is mild, with toasted acidic malt. A decent quaff.

The flavour is dominated by a roasted caramel and malty flavour. Some hints of fruit and a nice sourness in the finish. Very nice.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2013 Draught. Almost totally black with light brown head. Dry and malty. Has a little bit of Irish stout to it. Clear taste of řllebrřd. Aftertaste hint of liquorice. 4 4 7 3 17

Bottle, 5.1%. Good bready and roasted aroma. Very dark brown colour, seems clear with a red shine. Big stable light brown head. The flavour is also bready at first, turning very slightly creamy with a roasted finish. No to low bitterness. A very well-balanced beer. 7 3 7 3 16
