Bottle. Pours very dark brown almost black but reddish when held to light. Nose is citrous hops on the pour, but the backbone is roasted malt, chocolate, bit of cured sausage. Mouth feel is light, texture of lager but dark sticky. Taste is chocolate, roasted malt but light and refreshing.

Bottle. Dark brown with a frothy but not durable head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, caramel, leather, dark chocolate and moderately strong grassy hops. Taste is mainly dark chocolate, caramel and hops, some roastedness. Full body, moderate bitterness with an aftertaste of dark chocolate, which makes this skillfully composed brew appear moderately dry.

Tap at Cafe Louvre in Prague. Dark brown pour with a creamy head. Nose of lactic cream and sweet caramel and dark fruit malt presence. Flavor is delightfully creamy with fantastic plum, fig, and raisin character. Soft mouthfeel. Really nice, especially with a good plate of goulash.

0.5L bottle from U Medvidku, best by 10/27/2011. The pour yields a dark reddish-chestnut body with a moderate head of khaki foam. The head settles to a thin, swirly film with a pronounced outer ring. Rounded spots of wet lace are scattered about the glass. The nose is classic dunkel/tmave, showing excellent balance between notes of crusty bread, moist pumpernickel, dry chocolate roast, and sweet rising dough. Flavors mirror the nose, simple yet tasty and impressively balanced, showing notes of dark bread, baking dough sugars, dry chocolate, and yeast. The palate is medium-plus in stature, smooth, and balanced. Some drying roast keeps it from going overly sugary. There’s a slightly papery, oxidized quality that actually enhances palatability. Overall, it’s damn good stuff, even in the bottle. One of the better dark brews that I had from the Czech Republic. O course, it didn’t hurt to drink it as I sailed along the Danube and through the Wachau Gorge between Melk and Krems.

Bottle 500 ml
Aroma mild sweet sided , light notes of brown sugars , faint hop.
Appearance dark brown with lager with initially large top that quickly reduced it self to small cap. 3-
Flavor and Palate : Medium light bodied. Mineral caramel hints, some cola notes. I cant escape of its plane feel. Where is the sublime depth of good dunkels?

On tap at Duende in Prague. Black-ish color with thick white head. Low carbonation, very mild. Some note of roasted coffee. Malty, hardly any bitterness. Sweet aftertaste. Very easily drinkable and worth trying.
