3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Caramelly, toasty, otherwise undefined medium malt aroma. A hint of plum esters. No discernible hop aromas. No off aromas. Clear brown with large, thick, beige head that dissipated quickly. Malt flavors are of dark caramel, cola, molasses, licorice, toast, roasted malt and plum esters. Balance is clearly towards the malt, with just the minimum bitterness. No other flavors. Nothing off. Mouthfeel is medium light with medium carbonation, no creaminess, astringency. The slightest feel of alcohol. Finish is medium dry leaving a thin malty aftertaste.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(50 cl bottle from Kervan’s ; BBD: 02.09.15) Poured into a Brřckhouse pilsener flute reveals a dark brown body with plenty of creamy, tan head. Good retention and lace. Aroma is nutty with notes of noble hops. Texture is bordering on the watery, medium carbonation, medium to light body and a short and sweet finish. Flavour has a nice roastedness that resembles nuttyness from a good brown ale. Not particularly sweet or bitter - rather balanced and with the emphasis on quenchability. Decent.

Prague east city beer circuit stop 3: Pivovarsky Klub. Love the swing-top bottle of course, and the beer matched expectations nicely. (R Pattinson reco.) I like some of the other tmavys better, but no complaints about this fine beer.

Keg @ Pure Bar and Kitchen. Despite its dark appearance this offering exhibits all the vivacious character of its paler siblings.
You are first greeted with a piquant aroma, evoking memories of old oak cabinets and Bovril on toast. Keen observers will detect notes of butterscotch and their grandfathers old moth-eaten flat cap.
To the eye the silky black liquid brings to mind thoughts of puddles in the moonlight softly shimmering as the wind caresses them.
On taking your first sip the malts whisk you away into a world of chocolaty velvet. Not long after the hops pull you back down with their porcupine like sharpness. As the taste evolves mischievous undertones of dusty Matlesers and Turkish Delight appear resonating with the character of an old brikabrak shop.
On the finish you are left with a lingering sense of self fulfilment. The taste of vivid mahogany left swirly around your mouth with childlike innocence. Once this dies a reminisce of granite hugs your tongue for a good long while.
