Strong black lager. It’s a special dark lager produced from five types of malt with a striking full flavour and light bitterness. Its special flavour makes it unique on the Czech beer market.

Bottle shared at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. As bernard Cerny Lezak. Very dark brown with beige head. A little roasty and toast aroma, dry, bitter taste and slightly roasty. Medium body, slightly dry finish. Fairly carbonated. Nice and drinkable.

Bottle. Dark brown, average and fully diminishing light brown head. Light to moderate malty and lightly sweetish aroma, some roasted malt. Body is light to medium, malty and lightly sweetish aroma with some roasted malt. Finish is short to average, malty and lightly sweetish, some roasted malt. OK lightly sweetish dunkel, nothing wrong – nothing special.

mikkellund42 (543) - DENMARK - MAR 12, 2014
Bottle as Bernard Cerny Lezak in Prague. Pours clear reddish brown with huge light brown foamy head. Aroma is sour appels, light hops (grass and citrus) and hints of sea breeze (?). Taste is light bitter, light sour and light sweet. Body is watery with good carbonation. Finish is medium long and light sweet with notes of caramel, brunt sugar and (too) thin black coffee. Very disappointing

500ml bottle from Tallinn. Dark reddish brown colour, large frothy mostly lasting beige head, lacing. Heavily malty aroma of toast, chocolate, caramel and a bit of coffee, light to moderate floral hops. Taste is initially bittersweet and moderately acidic, turning into a short moderately bitter finish with a burnt feel. Medium to full body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Certainly one of the better Czech tmavýs, could’ve used a significantly larger amount of hops though.

Billed on the bottle as "World's Best Dark Lager" and the claim us plausibly true. Excellent flavour and aroma. Simple recipe with no special additives. Not surprising since the brewery has existed since 1597. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On Tap @ Wellington, Hull. Black with a big beige head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma of Marmite and seawater. A very strange and unpleasant salty/umami taste, rather like soy sauce. I struggled with this beer.
