Strong black lager. It's a special dark lager produced from five types of malt with a striking full flavour and light bitterness. Its special flavour makes it unique on the Czech beer market.

Black with a beige head. Loved this! Aroma of dust, malt and dates. Wonderful sweet caramel taste with gooseberry sourness, espresso, ash and preserved plums. Some bitterness (just enough in fact). Excellent.

Dark brown body, small head what diminishes quickly. Roasted malt aroma and taste, avarage body. Not bad, but not my dunkel style

50cl swing-top bottle from Tesco. Black with a reddish tint and a thick cream head; fruity, malty, caramel aroma; spritz feel in the mouth with lots of burnt caramel flavour, some nuts and fruits as well, but the burnt sugar dominates; there is some coffee and chocolate on the finish, but again this is overcome by burnt sugar leaving a dry ending. This is certainly an assertive beer.

Very pleasant Dunkel. Surprising initial smoothness for the style which gives way to a nice dryness in the finish with hints of chocolate and a coffee bitterness.

Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverage Warehouse, 500 ml swing top bottle. Very dark ruby red pour with a quickly fading dark khaki colored head. Slightly sweet aroma with hints of syrup and caramel. Flavor is similarly sweet with some nuttiness, caramel and a bit of molasses and licorice to round it out. Mouthfeel is thick enough. Best of the three Bernards I purchased.

Cheap 500ml bottle from Prague Tesco. Pleasant dark lager. Dark bread malty with a restrained carbonation. Hints of licorice and tobacco. Slides down easy and accompanies roll mops and cheese rolls very nicely. Licorice. Chocolate. Tobacco. Smooth.

Bottle from Tesco. Almost black with hints of red, with a big, foamy off-white head. Aromas of caramel, dates, chocolate, some coffee roastiness and some grassy hops. Slightly chewy mouth feel, with some doughy malt, red fruit, caramel and dark chocolate. Finish was long and dry. Excellent.
