The flavour is dominated by a roasted caramel and malty flavour. Some hints of fruit and a nice sourness in the finish. Very nice.

Medium black-brown in hue with a large, brown, frothy head. Aroma is smoky with chocolate and walnuts. Hops come across as peppery and woody. A little butter resides in the background. Perhaps a light yeasty dustiness as well. Soft and aromatic, overall. The flavour begins sweet with cocoa and caramel, sweeping into a roasty and woody-floral off-dry finish. A fair amount of smoke and tar creep into the flavour as it comes to room temperature. Medium bodied with a lush, velvety texture and lively carbonation. Pleasant, and I’m always up for a little smoke.

50cl bottle, bbe 19.08.08.

Poured thick dark red/black. Decent off white head. Rich and robust beer, thick and creamy though maintaining the lager aspect. Hops and chocolate, coffee and nuts. Pleasant bitterness in the finish, malt. Excellent dark lager.

Bottle from Tesco. Almost black with hints of red, with a big, foamy off-white head. Aromas of caramel, dates, chocolate, some coffee roastiness and some grassy hops. Slightly chewy mouth feel, with some doughy malt, red fruit, caramel and dark chocolate. Finish was long and dry. Excellent.

Bottle. Brown color, frothy, brown lasting foam. Aroma is very hoppy with hints of caramel and vanilla, coffee and chocolate... Flavor is roasted, chocolate and caramel with a nice sweetness and light bitter finish. Not as sweet as other dunkels.
