COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Amber Lager
Bernard’s Amber Lager is a unique half-dark lager produced by an original brewing recipe of the Barnard’s Family Brewery. The light caramel-type malt endows this beer with a balanced bitter taste, fine toffee aroma, and full body.

Bottle. Big offwhite head, quickly disappearing. Clear amber to medium brown colour. Aroma hops, light touch of roasted malt and caramel. Taste medium roasted bitter nicely combined with somewhat light hoppiness, light caramel sweet. Finish is roasted dry light bitter. Nice beer, though nothing exceptional. Just a hint of coffee ind aroma and taste as it warms up a bit.

Bottle. Dark amber with a rather poor head. Aroma is toasted, light caramelly maltiness, nicely blended with the grassy and herbal Saaz hoppy notes, some sweet dried fruit notes and rooibos. Mild taste, toasted maltiness paving the way for a moderately strong, pleasant bitterness with notes of dried fruit. Very pleasant vienna.

.5L Swingtop in trade with theBeerSomm... thanks Matt. Pours a Bright Burnt Sienna with light carbonation that glows in the .3L Bernard mug I bought back from this past years trip. The loud pop when the swingy opened scared both the wife and the cat. Light to medium in body. Nose of light malt is copied in body and mouthfeel. a touch of hop twang at the curt finish.

Groovy little dark lager. They had heaps of this @ tesco in Twickenham. Shitloads of roasted bitter chocolate and some of that customary grime you gets in dark lagers. Good sinkable dunkle.

0,5L bottle from supermarket in Kremenchuk, Ukraine. Scents of malts, ginger, some hops, some licorice. Caramel coloured body. Dark brown to amber body. Taste of hops, grains, roasted malts. Mouthfeel normal, just as a beer, well balanced and easy to drink. Aftertaste of bread, sweet malts, a mild ending. Good dark beer.

Flip-top bottle. Poured a nice appearance with an amber colour and a fine pored, pale brown head, which remained creamy on its top, carbonation was average. After it taked enough air, the smell was grassy with some caramell and yeast. Tasteing started crisp, the flavour was of light toffee (and unfortunately a bit cardboard-liked, too) mouthfeel was rather watery than medium. The middle was ruled of the grassy hops, the caramell malt was low-keyed. The finish was of some spicyness and dry, which remained in an average-kinded aftertaste. I’ve tasted it for one time in the past and kept it like a better kinded vienna/dunkel in my memory, but at this time it wasn’t really impressive...
