Amber Lager
Bernard’s Amber Lager is a unique half-dark lager produced by an original brewing recipe of the Barnard’s Family Brewery. The light caramel-type malt endows this beer with a balanced bitter taste, fine toffee aroma, and full body. It is an unpasteurized beer enriched with yeast during bottling.

??/03 A 0.5 l bottle brought from an Albert store, Prague. It poured clear reddish body with small head. Fine baked dough and caramel aroma. Flavor is mostly sweet, only slightly dry hoppy. Caramel, some mild notes of fruit and herbal hops are present. Pleasantly smooth palate, fuller in body. Nice, long finish that only reflects the flavor and ends slightly more bitterish than expected. Very nice vienna, enjoyable. Bernard didn’t fail neither this time!

Toasted beer with a short head that dissapears very quick. Sweet aroma with toasted nuances but not so convincing. Too sweet flavour with a short finish without hops notes.

On tap at the 5th Czeh Beerfestival, Bp. Clear amber with an off-white/beige head. Malty aroma ruled by medium sweet caramel underpainted by mild toast, dough and herbs. Mild bitterness escorts the medium dry finish.

Flip-top bottle. Poured a nice appearance with an amber colour and a fine pored, pale brown head, which remained creamy on its top, carbonation was average. After it taked enough air, the smell was grassy with some caramell and yeast. Tasteing started crisp, the flavour was of light toffee (and unfortunately a bit cardboard-liked, too) mouthfeel was rather watery than medium. The middle was ruled of the grassy hops, the caramell malt was low-keyed. The finish was of some spicyness and dry, which remained in an average-kinded aftertaste. I’ve tasted it for one time in the past and kept it like a better kinded vienna/dunkel in my memory, but at this time it wasn’t really impressive...

Bottled, 0.5l.Clear deep amber color with large frothy beige head and soft carbonation. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel and spicy hops. Flavor starts with sweet malt and caramel, followed by sudden dryness and crispiness. Pretty well balanced with long and strong hoppy finish. Medium body, slick texture and soft carbonation in palate. Good and drinkable...

Bottle. Darker color than I expected from amber beer. Aroma is slightly hops with hints of malt. Taste is roasty, hops. Not a bad beer but nothing too special.
