mullet (763), Melbourne, Australia Sep 16, 2007 Updated: Sep 17, 2007 At Uncle Paya, Plzeň’s one-stop shop for pancakes, weed and great beer. Had some of this with motelpogo and it was so good I had to go back by myself for a bit more. It’s a bit more orange than most Czech beers, and only the tiniest bit of haze. Distinct fresh hop aroma, which is fairly unusual in the world of Czech beers - Kout excepted, of course, but this is a bit more integrated and a bit less fresh/raw than Kout’s stuff. Flavour is very orangey, with very firm, juicy malt and a touch of apricot nectar. Vaguely sulfurous side taste, but it’s hardly prominent. Finishes salty and slightly bitter. Quite close to a regular filtered 12% but with just a bit more added freshness from the yeast. Very impressive stuff.
MiP (6029), Flensburg, Germany Sep 9, 2008 Draught at GBBF08. Hazy golden colour. Stable white head. The flavour is very malty with some strange sourness. Hint of vinous aftertaste, rough hoppiness. asheft (979), Marburg, Germany Sep 4, 2008 [on tap in Plzen]
Fresh saaz hops aroma that has a touch of citrus/lemon. Hazy, dark gold with a fuzzy white top. Slightly sour hops flavour developing into bitterness with almost a lemony malt. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation and a touch of residual bitterness. maeib (4012), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Aug 13, 2008 Draught - GBBF 2008. A yellow golden beer with a whitish head. The aroma is crisp with saaz hops noticeable. The taste is reasonably bitter with more saaz. Crisp and clean but unspectacular. cgreb (57), Marburg, Germany Aug 12, 2008 on tap (Plzen) - Little bit hazy golden beer with white head. Slight hops aroma. More sweet aroma. Moderate bitterness. DSG (867), Yuvalim, Israel Aug 9, 2008 (6/26/08) Draught at Uncle Paya in Plzen. Slightly hazy golden with a big white head. Aroma has some yeastiness and some decent grassy hoppiness. Sweetish flavor at first with hints of bread, continues to a pleasant, lingering, hoppy bitterness. Medium-bodied. Very nice.
