A rye IPA brewed with experimental hops and heavy on the rye. Pours amber in color with a heavy bitterness and bone dry finish.

On tap at Church Key, SF. Hazy orange with a decent amount of lacing in the glass. Smells and tastes caramel malty. Hops come through in a herbal manifestation. Not much obvious influence from the rye. Mouthfeel is watery and lets it down. Needs improvement on this evidence.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dirty cloudy amber with a dirty beige head. (This was a just tapped keg, so it might be unsettled, but there were enough solids to suggest unfiltered). Med body or better. Flavor seems citrus with rye spice. Touch of earthiness. No hop burn to speak of. Seems cask its so smooth.

20 ounce sample on tap at the brewery. The aroma on this definitely has some rye spicy character, but not overdone. There is also a little floral hoppiness and a bit of pine, too. Light underlying sweetness. The aromas play well together. Transparent dark copper body, with a medium, strong off-white head. Surprised this was filtered. Starts with a moderate sweet maltiness, before some pretty piney hop flavor comes through in the middle. Becomes spicy with rye malts in the middle, and finishes pretty heavily bitter from the rye. Pretty dry finish. A little much for me at the end.

On tap at Davis Bike and Brew Fest. Pours greenish copper with a nice beige head and a strange sour malt aroma. There is a medium-bodied rye malt flavor with a nicely bitter finish.
