Draft. Black beer with a light tan head. Rich malt aroma. Rich malt and light spice flavor. Medium bodied. Rich malt and light spice lingers with light chalkiness.

On tap at Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours near black with an attractive tan head and a chocolate and pumpkin aroma. There is a hearty chocolate and dark molasses flavor with a hint of pumpkin.

On tap at capitol beer. Color is black with off white head. Taste is slight pumpkin with a nice stout. Lots of dark malts.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours black with a 3 finger creamy light tan head. Very like a Guinness - it can be drawn in. Aroma of burnt dark malt. Full bodied. Flavor is very chocolate. Perhaps some vegetable/squash aspect, but not a noticeable amount of spice. At least to me. It’s a delicious chocolate stout.

On tap at City Beer. It pours a very cloudy dark orange/brown color with a khaki head. The aroma has a lot of roasted malt, cinnamon and coffee. The flavor is smoky, dirty, roasted with coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg and chocolate. Very full bodied. Tasty stuff.

On tap. Black with a creamy tan head. Sweet chocolate and roasted grain aroma. Not much pumpkin coming through, but nice roasty, grainy, smokey chocolate flavors with subtle pumpkin on the finish. Nice creamy buttery palate. Very good overall.

8 ounce sample on cask at the brewery. The aroma is quite roasted with some smokiness present. Light chocolate. Not too much in the way of pumpkin. Nicely aromatic, though. Pours an opaque black color with a creamy, foamy tan head that is persistent. Starts with some lightly sweet chocolate maltiness. Becomes quite roasted with some light smokiness in the middle. Finishes with a little pumpkin sweetness. The pumpkin in this is very restrained, with is fine with me. The body is a bit sticky towards the end. Decent stuff, but it seems a little too burnt/roasted/smoked for me.
