3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2015 Weakest easily in the Stouterday lineup at Final Gravity (unanimously in our group of 6). Nothing wrong with it, but drinks small - looks and feels like a porter and at nearly 9% that’s a bit of a shortfall. Nice enough pumpkin spice but lighter on the stout part. Not bad on it’s own, but can;t play with the big boys.
Better at the brewer - still doesn’t drink like 10% but the subtleties of the bourbon smoked pumpkin (and less spice) come out more.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ City Beer. Dark brown pour with a khaki head. Aroma is roasty and heavy on the chocolate. A lot of coffee, some spice, and a bit of wet soil. Slightly floral. The flavor is mildly bitter, but doesn’t have all that much sweetness either. Decent coffee and roast. Lots of chocolate. Mild to moderate spice character. Slight cayenne note to it.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours black with a 3 finger creamy light tan head. Very like a Guinness - it can be drawn in. Aroma of burnt dark malt. Full bodied. Flavor is very chocolate. Perhaps some vegetable/squash aspect, but not a noticeable amount of spice. At least to me. It’s a delicious chocolate stout.

On tap at City Beer. It pours a very cloudy dark orange/brown color with a khaki head. The aroma has a lot of roasted malt, cinnamon and coffee. The flavor is smoky, dirty, roasted with coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg and chocolate. Very full bodied. Tasty stuff.
