3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 drismyhero (815) - Tacoma, USA - JAN 25, 2005
Pours a very mellow brown with little head. Mild caramel aroma with hints of hoppy spice. Similar flavor, but all around very mellow. Very drinkable, but not anything I’d remember the next day. My disclaimer is however that this was purchased at Trader Joe’s where no beer is refrigerated, so it is possible this beer has lost some character.

Yakima Brewing and Malting Company--Bert Grant’s Amber Ale--1998 12 oz. Bottle. 5.50% ABV. 25 IBU’s. (3.25 / 5.0) Striking clear bright deep red color. Light floral hop front followed by rich cherry fruity malty body. Nice sweet caramel accents. Light spicy hop finish, but brew is out of balance. Sampled 5/10/1999.

clean amber, whispy head, sweet malty aroma, starts off sweet with lots of carmel, good hop flavor in the middle, finishes slightly bitter tap: much smoother and less hop character, no bitterness

Pours a nice hazy orange. Aromas of caramel, hint of fruit and hops. Nice creamy malt taste with a nice hop bitterness.

Similar to their scottish ale, except for some more caramelly notes. Decent as a session ale, but otherwise bland and boring.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BelgianGirl (89) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - MAR 6, 2004
It was hard to get a good aroma from this beer as I was in a very smokey bar when I ordered it. Great creamy head that complemented the dark golden color of the beer. It had a hoppy flavor combined with some maltiness. Overall, it was a tasty beer.

not as full bodied as most ales in this style, it's got a great blend of hoppiness and malty flavor. a touch watery, but very refreshing...almost a *gasp* light craft ale. me likes this one.

A little too hoppy for me. The taste is strong and agressive from the first sip all the way though. Interesting bitters. Not a beer for me.

If you like hoppy ambers, this one’s for you! (I do!) Second only to the Rogue Amber and Beermann’s. Great hop flavors here, give me a hoppy Amber vs. a sweet one any day!
