UPDATED: JUL 28, 2004 A lovely auburn ale with a sweet aroma and a sweet-dry flavor that rewards every sip. Sort of a caramel-brown sugar malt backbone with light hop bitterness in the fiinish. Mouthfeel is creamy. Very refreshing.

Sweet, smoky and especially brown sugar aroma. Moderately hazy dark copper color with quickly dissipating light tan head. Smooth start with sweet middle, finishing with a smokey caramel malt finish with a small hop kicker. An enjoyable amber.

Hazy amber. Malt and hops aroma. Decent biscuit malt base with pine hops. The local beer store was pushing is as "like Fat Tire" (which wasn’t available there), which it isn’t too much, but good in its own right.

Aroma is mild amlty and soapy like you almost have to stick your whole face inthe glass to smell anything. Yeasty dough is the first taste that I got. Hard to taste anything except that sweet dough taste except for a touch of light citrus. Mouthfeel is way overcarbonated for my taste and the finish is sweet and dry.

Great amber color with a slight hop aroma. Good balance of hops and malt throughout. A good beer when you can't decide what to have.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 skaughty (625) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - APR 13, 2004
Poured auburn/copper with a minimal head and medium carbonation. The aroma was bold, with strong hop and caramel malt elements. Flavor was round, with a dry finish and lots of mouth action. Roasted elements of a good porter, but decidedly lighter and more refreshing.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 8, 2004
Cookie and caramel? malt (M); pine and citrus hops (L); doughy yeast (L). Deep amber body; tight, creamy, white head. Moderately sweet flavor becomes a lightly sweet, moderately bitter finish. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: one of the better Bert Grant's I've had.
