BREWMUSKCLES (844), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Mar 29, 2007 maybe i had a dead bottle (actually 2) the honey doesn’t go over too well with me. not at all bad. a little thick and not very carbonated. like kramer says sherry, toasty thats it for me.
RSRIZZO (1097), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 2, 2007 Had this beer on 2/17/1999. Color is a deep dark brown with good carbonation and a light head. Aroma is a dark roasted malt scent. Taste is rich and strong. It starts with a medium body that is full of a rich roasted malt taste that goes down with a slight sharpness and the roasted flavor gets a bit stronger. The finish caries the malt flavor backed with a light bitterness and light hop flavor. It makes for a good winter brew but is not as good as most Bert Grant Ales. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 12/05/2003
mlist55 (210), media, Pennsylvania, USA May 23, 2007 There is a malty aroma and the color is amber with shades of copperish red. The head is a nice long lasting tan. Deep Powder begins with a slight malty sweetness and builds to a roasted bitterness. The body is medium and the aftertaste has a pleasent bitterness that lasts.
kramer (2035), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 19, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark ruby colored body under a very small fizzy off-white head that immediately vanished. Aroma is heavily malty with a little sherry like oxidation creeping in. Lighter notes of alcohol, soy, and chocolate. Flavor is fairly dry with some cardboard like oxidation quite apparent. Some chocolate, toasted malts, and some light bitterness make it’s way past the age. Mouthfeel is fairly thin with fizzy prickly carbonation. Slightly sticky on the finish. Overall, this has gone down the other side of the hill I believe. Still drinkable, and actually quite interesting if you’re a fan of aged beers, but I wouldn’t let it go any longer.
