Great name and a beer that simply does not live up to it's name. Mildly hopped... little malt character, but it's not bad.

Had this beer on 10/27/1998. Color is a burnt orange with good carbonation and head. Aroma is full of a nice fresh hop scent. Taste sweet and hoppy. It starts with a light body that goes down smooth and creamy. The finish is clean and well balanced with a very light bitterness, a great fresh hop flavor and light sweet malt back tones. I can’t think of a beer that fits the Fall better than this. The color is that of the changing leafs, it’s cool and refreshing like a cool Fall day, and the taste and the aroma are like the air on a fresh fall morning.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BREWMUSKCLES (1685) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 21, 2007
REFRESHING AND ORANGE IN COLOR AS WELL AS IN ITS SWEETISH CITRUS TASTE. MILD HOPPINESS IS NONE THE LESS PLEASANT. I FIND THIS MODERATE IN BODY AND SLICKISH WITH GOOD CARBONATION. WATERY AND BITTER AFTERTASTE. THE MALT CHARACTER MATCHES, WHICH IS TO SAY IT IS A BIT WEAK. PROBABLY GOOD IN THE RIGHT SITUATION.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 black95tt (82) - Doylestown, Ohio, USA - SEP 12, 2006
Wasn’t impressed with this one at all. Aroma was somewhat citrusy, mostly grassy, which is expected with the fresh hops. The malt profile is what struck me. Very, very sweet. Too sweet. The body was a little too heavy as well. Not too bad, but not great.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 realale420 (399) - west covina, California, USA - JUL 28, 2006
12oz bottle pours deep hazy orange with almost no head. Aromas of earthy hop and sweet malt. Not much bitterness with a pronounced hop flavor and a deep malt profile. The wet hops add a slightly musty flavor to the beer that is almost unpleasant.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ChazMania (609) - Pasadena, California, USA - JUN 13, 2006
Bottled. Very dark orange. Much more creamy, with a forward carmel malt thing going. I thought with the name "Hop ale" it would be bitter and hoppy, which I prefer. This is OK, just not as hoppy (IPA) like that is my preference.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Kevin (1953) - Colorado, USA - MAY 28, 2006
Tap. Hazed dark orange body with a milky thin ring of gray remaining. Oranges in the nose with a bit of sugar water. Buttery flavor at first then an acidic hop bite comes in with some citrus. A lingering caramel flavor that is a bit dirty. The overall flavor is watered down.
