3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JPDIPSO (4956) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 28, 2002
Tawny amber color with a quick fading light tan head. Floral orange aroma. Flavors of orange citric hops with a dark caramel backbone. Definite english yeast influence. A change of pace from yur average APA.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 egajdzis (4949) - Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 17, 2003
Poured a dark copper color with a small large bubbly light tan head that left nice lacing. Hoppy aroma, smelled slightly stale to me. Hoppy taste, backed up by a nce malty backbone. This was well balanced, but I think as far as American Pales go I am more of a hop head and less of a "well balanced" head. I just love hops!
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 notalush (4208) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 10, 2003
This is a pretty bland pale ale. Slight hop presence, tiny bit of malt. The finish is pretty darn watery. This is like dirty water with some hops thrown in.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jgb9348 (4030) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - DEC 7, 2003
Amber colour with a light ruby highlight. Perfectly sized ense tan head tops the beer very nicely. I have to say this is one of the nicest looking APA's i've seen (odd from the brewery!). Aroma of what-else; HOPS! Not too much, but a good amount of citrus and floral freshness comes from this beer. Some minute sweetness is also present in the aroma. Medium to Light-bodied; Sweet flavour with some lighter piney and floral hops-definately less than expected. Balanced well-but only because not much hops are present. Aftertaste a little bit bittered from the hops, but a lot of the malt is noticeable. Overall, a decent beer, but a bit worse than expected and really nothing that everyone should try! I bought this twelve ounce bottle from Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it on 06-December-2003.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Pailhead (3887) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - DEC 28, 2004
Bottle: Aroma has lots of orange with some floral hops. Pours a transparent amber with a small white head that fades quickly. Light caramel flavor up front with some light hops in the finish. I’ve had APA’s in the past where I liked the caramel hop balance, but it doesn’t seem to work for me in this one. It’s not bad, but it’s not one of the better APA’s.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 ClarkVV (3579) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - APR 10, 2005
UPDATED: APR 11, 2005 2004 bottle. Light amber/yellow body, clear with a small white head, rapidly dissipating. Aroma of butter, very faint old hops doused in butter and a light caramel note. Flavor tastes very buttery. Guess this bottle didnt last too well, though it only sat out on the store’s shelves, as plenty of other beers have, and this is the first that I’ve had which has been ruined by diacetyl. Faint hints of hops flavor but mostly just sticky, slightly bittersweet/sour butter-cream. Oddly, the retronasal is a clear cascades hop flavor, but that’s the only thing this one has going for it. Medium body, fizzy carbonation (too much of it).
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 FlacoAlto (3506) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - SEP 24, 2003
This beer is a golden color. The aroma is one of light citrus. Upon first taste I noticed that this beer leans more to the bittering qualities of the hop than the flavor contributions that I was expecting from a beer labeled "Fresh Hop". This beer is malty and fairly dry, it does have a light hop flavor that is reminiscent of citrus & lychee, but not quite as much as I would have liked.

Pours a nice orangish color. Aroma is big citrus hops. Flavor of a classic pale, big hop flavor.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Eyedrinkale (3213) - Astoria, New York, USA - MAY 21, 2004
Copper color with smallish head. Aroma more of malt than the big hops that I was expecting. Taste is also very malty without much bitterness at all. Head went away pretty quickly as well.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 DYCSoccer17 (3041) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 22, 2004
Piney, citrus aroma. Columbus Hops? Touch of malts, too. Big time Pine Sol aroma. Transparent dark copper with a quickly dissipating off-white head. Darker than expected. Tangy zinged beer with bitter hop start that is not neccissarily pleasat. Finish is blah. Unbalanced and rather one-dimensional. Doesn’t work for me.
