Ubiquibeer (140), Cleveland, USA Nov 5, 2004 Like many here, I think the whole ’fresh hop ale’ thingy is a little bait and switch, but here goes...pours a dark amber with very little head. Aroma more caramel malty than hoppy, but I can smell the hops. Creamy but a little watery mouthfeel. Taste is very mild, balanced, but really really mild; certainly not the hop monster the label implies. There are no off flavors--this is certainly drinkable--but really, tonight I have some Alpha King and Burning River to drink and I fear that this just won’t make the cut. Sorry Bert. Had you amplified the flavors a bit you would have had a chance, but this creamy, watery pale just does not do it for me.
RSRIZZO (1097), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 2, 2007 Had this beer on 10/27/1998. Color is a burnt orange with good carbonation and head. Aroma is full of a nice fresh hop scent. Taste sweet and hoppy. It starts with a light body that goes down smooth and creamy. The finish is clean and well balanced with a very light bitterness, a great fresh hop flavor and light sweet malt back tones. I can’t think of a beer that fits the Fall better than this. The color is that of the changing leafs, it’s cool and refreshing like a cool Fall day, and the taste and the aroma are like the air on a fresh fall morning. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 10/24/1997
mlist55 (210), media, Pennsylvania, USA May 23, 2007 Pours a nice orangish color. Aroma is big citrus hops. Flavor of a classic pale, big hop flavor.
BREWMUSKCLES (844), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA May 21, 2007 REFRESHING AND ORANGE IN COLOR AS WELL AS IN ITS SWEETISH CITRUS TASTE. MILD HOPPINESS IS NONE THE LESS PLEASANT. I FIND THIS MODERATE IN BODY AND SLICKISH WITH GOOD CARBONATION. WATERY AND BITTER AFTERTASTE. THE MALT CHARACTER MATCHES, WHICH IS TO SAY IT IS A BIT WEAK. PROBABLY GOOD IN THE RIGHT SITUATION. black95tt (82), Doylestown, Ohio, USA Sep 12, 2006 Wasn’t impressed with this one at all. Aroma was somewhat citrusy, mostly grassy, which is expected with the fresh hops. The malt profile is what struck me. Very, very sweet. Too sweet. The body was a little too heavy as well. Not too bad, but not great.
