NWHopHead99 (58), Tacoma, Washington, USA Mar 31, 2002 I very balanced beer, with plenty of malt, a very smooth drinkability, and no nasty aftertaste. Dark amber/red color, nice head that dissipates quickly.
RSRIZZO (1097), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 2, 2007 Had this beer on 6/2/1999. This is, from what I’ve read in Bert Grants book, the flagship of Yakima Brewing and Berts favorite beer that he brews. Color is a bright golden brown with good carbonation and a light head. Aroma is a sweet malt scent back buy a good hop fragrance. Taste is very hoppy and nicely bitter. It starts with a nice medium body and a bubbly feel. As it goes down crisp with a sweet malt flavor coming out. The finish is one of the most wonderful things I’ve had in awhile, stating with a perfectly balanced hop and malt flavor that is accompanied by a nice but strong bitterness. Overall this is the best Scottish Ale and one of the best beers I’ve ever had, its just excellent. tomthompson89 (1245), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 16, 2007 nose is hoppy grapefruit with a little caremel, brownish color with very little foam, burt garpefruit flavor some mild earth malts some metallic elements creamy mouthfeel bitter finish kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 02/10/1996
HopDuvel99 (25), Tennessee, USA Jul 3, 2007 Orangish amber with an offwhite head. Malty/alcohol aroma. Medium-bodied with a lightly foamy mouthfeel. Lots of malt with low-level hops for balance. Slightly sweet, lingering hoppy aftertaste. Pleasant and delicious. Very quaffable. mlist55 (210), media, Pennsylvania, USA May 24, 2007 Amber/dark gold with a strong fluffy off-white head. A beautiful beer in the glass. Really good toasted malty aroma. Flavor has a great smoothness to its bittering hops, as though Old Bert may have engaged in exclusive late hopping. Caramel and nuttiness, but not citrusy. This is thick and mellow.
