50 cl bottle @ home. Clear orange beer with a small white head, non-adhesive. Aroma is lots of banana, lemon, herbal touch. Medium carbonation. Taste is banane, lemons, grains, bitter. Aftertaste is pretty herbal, banana, grains, bit dry.

F: average white. C: yellow gold, hazy. A: malty, fruity, some banana, hops, hint of earthy yeast. T: malty, white sugar, some decent citrusy/orange peel, syrupy dry finish, low hoppy bitterness, medium body, average carbonation, nothing special but refreshing abbey tripel could be more hoppy maybe.

The triple in the Bertinchamps cliché trinity, from a stout 50 cl bottle (which seems rather much for a triple) with a very simple, straightforward label. No spices used, apparently, so I have no reason to fear overt coriander this time. Irregular, moussy, lacing, light yellowish white head residing over a clear, warm orange blonde beer with quiet sparkling. Aroma of strong banana and bubblegum ester (isoamylacetate), dough, biscuit, pineapple, peach, clove- and even varnish-like phenols, flowers, white pepper, hint of whisky-like alcohol. Rounded, sweet fruitiness in the onset, emphatically banana- and fruit bubblegum-like, some peach and melon, bit sugary (white candi sugar!), medium tingling carb, smooth and supple mouthfeel, bit resinous, pale malt sweetness with a biscuity and caramelly layer on top of it, white candi sugar sweetness remaining, leading to a sweetish, but not cloying finish with clove-like spicy phenols and a soft, deep, dull, lightly leafy and herbal hop bitterishness which remains in the background; some warming liqueurish alcohol shows up as well, but not obnoxiously. The residual white candi sugar sweetness and prominent banana-bubblegum flavour linger. Well-rounded tripel, no obvious flaws, but too sweet and bubblegum-like, even tilted to the sugary side with not enough hop bitterness to balance it; a redundant beer, but I cannot blame these people for trying, of course, and I kind of like the simplicity of the bottle and label. Also better than their Blonde I had at Heeren Van Liedekercke a few years ago, though I can imagine that one has improved meanwhile too.

50 cl bottle. Pours a clear deep yellow with white head. Aroma of fruits and bubblegum with a hint of phenol. Taste is slightly sweet. Palate is amazingly smooth. Fantastic beer.

Sweet malts, quite filtered, alcohol, peach liqueur, some light spice. No hop, but that’s alright. Sweet taste, malty, alcohol. Old fashioned but not bad. You’re grandpa probably likes it. (50cl bottle from Auchan Tours Nord)

My most recent discovery! It’s a refreshing triple with a lot of flavour perfect for a hot summer evening. Not too much alcohol-flavor so it’s dangerous to drink too much of them. If you have 2 glasses and company, share a bottle!

(50 cl bottle from Carrefour Express in Galeries Ravenstein; BBD: February 3rd 2017) Pours a hazy golden with one finger, white head that subsides leaving a decent amount of film and plenty of lace. Aroma is strangely dominated by a note of salami sausage with hints of coriander. Watery texture, medium body, soft carbonation and a slightly sweet finish. Different from what I’m used to in a tripel.
