Nice dark brown with a tan head. Aromas of rich malts with dark, bitter sweet chocolate and a hint of coffee. The flavor is of burnt coffee, bittersweet chocolate and a little cherry??

2008 Mountain Brewers’ Beer Fest (NABA) on tap. Pours a deep black with a swirling beige head. The aroma was fairly light roasted malts and some chocolate. The taste was a fairly rich roasted malt, coffee, and some bitterness that reminded me of coffee beans. Pretty good and enjoyable.

On draught at the brewpub restraunt in Salmon, Idaho. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick tan head with good retention. Aroma of dark roasted malt, moslasses, some dry dark pitted fruit and a touch of red berries. Taste is full bodied, thick creamy with a tart berry and chocoalte flavor. Finish is thick, smooth, and creamy with a spicey red berry aftertaste.

NABA ’04: Dark black, tan head, some lacing. The aroma is very up front with lots of roast & chocolate/coffee/mocha combination. Fruity even. The flavor is very astringent possibly from overuse of black patent but still fruity, thick body. Tastes like one of my homebrews.
