Jine (855), Nutley, New Jersey, USA May 7, 2007 3.30.07 on tap. Very roasty. Dark. Powerful Stout. Not syrupy or over-bearing. Lit and stoked our fires that night in preparation for the Steelgaarden
Firemoose15 (490), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 9, 2008 On draft at the pub. Aroma of coccoa and roasted malts primarily. Poured a nice black with a decent chocolatey head. Flavor was nice meld of coccoa, roast malts and tad of vanilla and molasses. Palate was medium bodied and nicely creamy. Overall, I think this could be the best I’ve had at the brewworks. Very tasty. egajdzis (2864), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 27, 2008 Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of cocoa, roasted malts, dark fruits, sherry, nuts, and seemingly alot of oxidation. Taste was oily, acrid roast, some cocoa, vanilla, soy, char, a bit of butter, and some tartness, followed by some alcohol. I think this has been on tap for a bit too long. illinismitty (1313), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 9, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Pours black with a thick brown head and nice lacing. Medium to full bodied with a smooth creamy texture. Flavor of chocolate cake, dark fruit, vanilla, and roasted malts. I like the level of residual sweetness. Bitterness is rather subdued on this one, as well as the burnt coffee traits, which works in the beer’s favor in my opinion. Sometimes I want to have an imperial stout, but without killing my palate. This beer does the trick. This is sort of a session Impy, and would be a good crossover beer for noobs. obxdude10 (1382), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA May 26, 2007 Very nice impy stout, black in color, big but soft brown head, excellent lacing left around the glass, aroma full of coffee, chocolate & burnt malts, lots of roasted notes in both the aroma & flavors, medium in body & mouthfeel, pretty drinkable & smooth, big & bold flavors with more notes of dark chocolate, burnt malt, oak, a touch of vanilla & slight hops just for good measure, long lingering finish with a little hint of cream & alcohol, a very nice stout
