Poured a caramel color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, raisins, nuts, figs, roast, and light smoke. Taste of roasted malts, dark fruits, light smoke, caramel, nuts, and light alcohol in the finish.

Growler thanks to Mel. Clear, reddish brown color with a small off white head. Mild toasted malt aroma with a touch of caramel and dried fruit. Had to really take a deep whiff to get much out of the aroma. Flavor was a bit stronger, with some brown sugar, chocolate, toasted malt and a hint of banana. Decent, easy drinking doppelbock.

On tap at the BBW brew pub. Poured a deep amber (almost a medium brown) color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of toasted malts, chocolate, light bread and some dark fruits. Tastes of light bread, toffee, dark fruits, toasted malts and somewhat of a brown sugar sweetness. Alcohol content well hidden.

Poured a dark ruby with lighter highlites and a creamy off-white head. Aroma of rich dark fruits, bubble gum, a bit of molasses, perhaps some bread. Flavor is soft and yeasty, with a mix of sweet and dry flavors, with notes of dark fruits, brown sugar, and wheat bread coming through. Although nothing about this stands out in particular, it’s a pretty smooth and drinkable doppelbock.
