Last day of Winter calls for a Christmas beer. Rude Elf Cellared for three months did not change much of the flavor. Mahogany mediumed bodied STRONG beer with spiced aroma and alcohol aftertaste. My palate can’t get past the medicine flavor. It’s a Rock Hammer of a Winter Brew.
1.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Rotbart (65) - - FEB 29, 2012
Poured a nice foamy head which lingered. Amber in color, the aroma was very spicy. The taste was too medicinal for me with a medicinal aftertaste.

Part of the mixed case from my sister. Pours a glorious red amber hue into my snifter capped by a foamy head with very little retention. Nose is strong with banana. Taste is trending sweet with burnt sugar, banana, clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Alcohol is banging down the front door and emjoyably warming on this cold day. Mouth is think and syrupy, a true sipping beer .

Pours a nice copper cooler with a highly carbonated head almost like soda. Smells like jaeger... Tastes like it too! Four calling birds by the bruery is a similar flavor profile but is light years ahead of this one. Does not match my taste, but can see how others would like it

Ar: Orange, peaches, and holiday spices - cinnamon and nutmeg especially.
Ap: Deep amber-orange, slightly hazy - large light tan head with nice retention - sudsy lacing left behind.
T: Spicy cinnamon and clove up front - juicy oranges and rum flavor - lightly bitter - big citrus and spice flavor dominate the palate on the finish.
P: Medium-full body - medium carbonation - finish is medium-dry.
O: Delicious holiday spiced ale - great balance of autumn / winter spices and the Belgian characteristics really complement the package.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 beerlover82 (189) - Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 26, 2011
On-tap at restaurant.
From notes:
Luscious ruby-red, fairly dark. With very thin, minimal head. Almost no lacing to speak of.
Notes of spice, a little cinnamon and a dominant alcoholic component. A little malt sweetness here and there.
Medium mouth, light carbonation with flavors of spice, sweetness and alcohol. Not bad.

On the tenth day of Christmas 2011. Pours ruby red with a off white head. Aroma is nutmeg, cherry, cinnamon, caramel and a little toffee. Taste its sweet with a syrupy mouth feel. everything comes together very nicely.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel color with a large foamy beige head that lingered and left some lacing. The aroma was strong dry cloves and gingerbread. The flavor was bitter, dryish and had a very strong presence of clove and gingerbread. The finish was long and dry with lingering gingerbread. Medium body. Ok.

Bottle, shared with the wife. Pours a light ruby, almost like a tainted yellow color. The Aroma is of spices with that Belgian breadyness, nutmeg, holidayish. Very strong aroma! 1 1/2 finger head that dissipated very quickly. The taste is of spices first then you get that bready belgianness in there. The alcohol is present on the back end with out a doubt.Overall it is damn spicy and with some caramelish notes, a bit roasty. Not bad.
Thank you to Josh for sending this to me. :)
