1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 egajdzis (4587) - Spring Mount, USA - DEC 11, 2005
Poured a golden color with a medium sized, off white head that left spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of sulphur, dirty clothes, and a funky, dry yeastiness. Taste was a little better, fruity citrus, with a slight hint of that nasty aroma taste. Medium to high carbonation. Something is wrong with this, but it was just tapped at the brewpub.

Thanks to Wy & his friends. This was called Fegley’s saison, and it was a good one. Fairly sweet, with some bready flavor. The first brew I have had from Bethlehem / Fegley’s, and based on this, I would try some more.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Probiere (992) - Iowa, USA - JAN 29, 2006
Dry and spicy (corriander) with apple-mint-melon accents. Wonder if I drank the same beer everyone else seemed to have drunk. Banana, dry finish, and very sweaty/funky/old-socky with spoilt hay in it.

on tap-pours a thin white head. Color is gold. Aroma is sweet, malty. Taste is coriander, musty, floral hops, citrus, wheat.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Dickinsonbeer (5076) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - DEC 18, 2005
Growler at RLB YEHA 05. Pours a hazy golden with a nice head. Aroma is initially pepper and spice with light sulfur in the end. Flavor has the qualities of dupont and chouffe yeast strains- lightly fruity- harsh spices and some light barnyard characteristics. Finishes moderately dry with some citrus and lemon, and not really strong enough overall.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 MullMan (1099) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 14, 2005
Growler at Richlikebeer’s YEHA ’05. golden yellow color with a foamy white head. aroma reminded me of Yard’s saison - kind of a chemical laden attempt - as if they used some sort of GMO artificial yeast. flavor is a little metallic and tart malt. ugh, this style is supposed to be pure!

Thanks to Firemoose 15. White soapy head that disappears quickly. Clear yellowish amber color. A weak citrusy aroma. Aroma was humid locker room offensive. Tastes of citrus and vanilla. By far, the worst offering from the Brew Works I’ve tasted.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 Firemoose15 (565) - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 14, 2005
Out of the growler I took to the YEHA. Aroma was really of rotten eggs. Pour was nice off golden with an off white head. For moments I really pondered not drinking this. Taste was much better than the advertisement, a very light yeast and sweet soft citrus to it. Palate was ok, it finished very clean. Overall, I was disappointed to be honest because as a hometown guy they haven’t disappointed me with there other stuff. I take heart in knowing they do make better stuff.

12.10.05 Sample from fresh growler, RLB YEHA-05. Brilliant amber-gold pour with small and fading off-white head. Aroma of baby shit in a plastic diaper, band-aids, and touches of savory spice. Absolutely stinky and wrong. Flavor is less of the baby shit (I can’t believe I even tasted the stuff) and slightly redeems itself with some musty old grain flavor. Soggy barn floor. Sweet hay sneaks in there but it’s really too late. Palate is not at all lively, there is no sourness or brisk acidity. Come on Bethlehem Brew Works, I know you can do better than this.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 whaleman (2176) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 13, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 14, 2005 NJ, Pocono, Philly YEHa!’05. Clear, bright orange body with a minimal fading white head. Medium plastic phenols and rosy esters in the aroma plus an American hop signature. Sweet and somewhat oxidized flavor with lots of phenols and hops. Sweet tea-like palate.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 jimmack (1221) - Nutley, New Jersey, USA - DEC 12, 2005
Growler at Ricklikebeer’s YEHA ’05. Hazy golden color with a small white head. Did not like the aroma of this one at all. Musty, yeasty funked up aroma that is normally beautiful in a saison is just plain not right here for some reason.
Yeasty, citrus flavor with some hay that was much better than the aroma, but it was hard to get the aroma out of my head while tasting. This made Paul’s saison taste good.
