(draft, Bethlehem) Creamy tan head with brown-balck body. Aroma is medium sweet, roast, some chocolate. Taste is medium sweet, roast, some chocolate, coffee. Watery light-medium body, easy drinking. Seems more like a dry stout.

On tap at the Bethlehem Brew Works Brew Pub. Poured a dark, dark brown (almost black) color with an offwhite head. Aromas and tastes of chocolate, light vanilla, and hints of oatmeal. Aromas and tastes were on the subtle side. Creamy and smooth body that went down very easy.

Creamy brown, not that much cream despite 75% nitro. Surprsingly thin Literally, the bottom of the barrel accoreding to the Brewmaster. Where is the chocolate malt?Roast and some bitter hoppy just didnt all work together. Least rated of 8 half pints.

I made my first trip to BBW in early March, 2004. I was very impressed with the food and beers. I had this one as part of their sampler. It is very dark, with a thick light brown head. Very malty, with subdued hops. Overtones of chocolate, roastiness, and raisins. BBW is worth the trip.

The Lure:
Roasted malt, caramel and dark chocolate form a rich aroma, spiced with low-key citrusy hops. Very attractive nourishment must ensue.

The Festivities:
Roasted malt bitterness and dark chocolate sweetness blend efficiently in the low carbonation. Molasses slither through this quite flavorful, basic stout. Another well-brewed beer from Bethlehem.

Transcendence:
A soot-soiled smile tells it all.

On tap at the brewpub, July 2006. Very black, with a thin beige head. Lots of chocolate character witrh plenty of roasted grain. Distinctly dry for an oatmeal stout. Quite full and chewy. Very competent and tasty if not entirely typical of the style..

Dark brown, no head. I fear the growler conditioning didn’t help this one at all and brought it flat despite being only one day old and that is pretty sad because the scotch ale was in great shape. Nevertheless, cocoa and light coffee flavours come up the nose with a lovely background of oatmeal, but there’s not much else going on if not for a sweet vanilla touch. Powdery chocolate blends well with the oat chunks, but it does feel pretty lifeless without carbonation and I find that the little tartness would have been better attenuated with effervescence around. A bit thin as it is.

Growler provided by Rich: Nearly opaque with a small frothy tan head and some lace. The aroma has notes of mocha, coffee, smoke, floral hops, earthy esters, and a hint of fig. The taste starts malty and moderately sweet with noticeable chocolate overtones. The finish is more towards the smoky and coffee twang. A bit of oat does appear but is subdued by the bitterness. The aftertaste display a touch of fruit and lactic notes. The feel is smooth and a tad watery. A good stout and easily drinkable as I finished the growler (minus one 12 oz handbottle for later) in one setting. THX

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2008 Poured a dark brown / reddish color with a small, tan, creamy head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of butter, chocolate, and roasty malts. Taste of chocolate, roasted malts, cherries, and other dried fruits. Not bad, though it seems the dirty lines didn’t let me experience this as it should have been.
