Pleasant but quite unlike any weizenbock that I have encountered before. There really was no noticable wheat presence. +++Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 Beers this beer poured a black color with a small tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was sweetish and tart with notes of cherry and raisin. The flavor was sweetish molasses, raisin, cherry and had touches of anise and tobacco. The finish was long and sweetish with lingering cherry, raisin and molasses. Fairly full bodied.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured into a half liter weizen glass... This year’s batch comes in at a sub-par 6.7% abv. Not exactly to style. Appears a hazy, dark brown with deep crimson notes when held to the light. A 1 finger, light tan head slowly fades out into a mild velvet cap. Scattered streaks of lacing are left around the glass. Smell is of cocoa, cloves, banana nut bread, cream, and Bavarian yeast esters. Taste is of the mentioned aromas with mild caramel and fresh grain flavors coming through. Mild notes of apple appear in the background. Mouthfeel is med bodied, sweet up front, mildly spicy, and dry in the finish. I’m surprised they decided to call this batch a weizenbock. If I hadn’t known any better, i would’ve thought it was a typical, run of the mill, dunkelweizen. Too toned down to be a kick-ass weizenbock, which is a truley royal style.

(draft, Bethlehem, at 6.7% ABV) Creamy beige head with cloudy dark brown body. Aroma is medium sweet, banana, some clove, alcohol, light chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet, clove, caramel, light alcohol. Low carbonation, soft medium body.

On draught. Aroma of a roasted wheat and banana. Arrived a dark hazed cloud of amber. Flavor was good the wheat didn’t overpower the beer but provided a nice platform for the banana and vanilla notes. Palate was nice bodied. Overall I liked it.

Head was disappointing for a weizenbock, almost none, very cloudy medium brown appearance, lots of clove but little banana phenols, slightly more bitter than usual for the style, not bad overall.

On tap at the brewpub, a citrus aroma comes off of the cloudy pale yellow body. A nice layer of white head held on the top of the glass through the entire beer. Taste is a blend of fruits and spices, mainly orange, maybe some mango, and a strong banana flavor in the tail. I thought this was a little bit on the bitter side for a weizenbock, possibly because of the citrus fruits, but overall, I thought this was a solid brew, and one of the better BBW offerings.

Via growler: Orangy caramel brown clouded color with a inch tall lush and thickly dense off-white cap, diminished fairly quickly. Lacing leaves good amounts of stingy sheets. Aroma has a pleasantly fruityness with a tropical overture of dulled orange, solid banana, some mango and pineapple with just a touch of yeast and clove spice. Taste is great, nice and fruit laden goodness, banana and mango juices surge over a weizen-like spice of clove and yeast. Quite thick and full with lasting juicy fruits. The banana really is nice, not so much as to think of those banana milk shakes that are a bit too much, but just right, mixing with other tropical fruits, all a bit dulled and not as sharp as the juices themselves would be. Spices are mild and tame, which I like. Quite nice. Feel is medium full with a desent smoothness and kinda creamy, finish is a bit thin, but its body seems to take a good stand within most of its stay. A pretty nice drinker, nice fruitiness and smooth to the buds.

Pours turbid diarrhea color (believe me, it tastes much better). Aroma of super complex fruitiness, with some banana and citrus. Tastes very malty, fruity, with a fruit/malt/wheat finish. Superb beer.

Beautiful creamy head and wonderfully cloudy brown color. Presence of bananas, cloves and chocolate. Very good example for the style. Reminded me of a sweeter Aventinus.
