Oakes (6776), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Apr 7, 2005 Light copper colour. Spicy, toasty aroma. This character is subdued in the palate by an underfermented wortiness. Finishes off-dry. Bitterness is low. Uneventful generic amber/EPA. MartinT (4241), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 30, 2006 Any first impressions?
-A decent, big-bubbled head diminishes atop the caramel-tinged golden.
-Delicate wooden, citrusy hops garnish the grainy aroma.
-Rough cereals and hoppy fruitiness form a simple flavor spectrum.
-A svelte malt body is activated by lively carbonation.
What if you dig deeper?
-An appreciable, dry, wooden hop finish attempts to keep things interesting.
-The sweet fruitiness of peaches and apricots roams within.
-All in all, this is a simple ale which fails to keep me interested throughout the glass.
Bottle; no date. Radek Kliber (3274), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 7, 2006 Bottle. LCBO. Pours amber gold with small fizzy top. Mild earthy, grainy aroma. Medium light body, with gentle earthy notes like shy version British ales. Fairly smooth but forgettable. Lubiere (3122), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jul 29, 2006 Golden ale with a thick big bubbled head. Non descript light herbal malt aroma. In mouth, a lightly hoped ale with very little else, short in mouth, starting to be a bit off. LCBO in TO, courtesy of Karl. HogTownHarry (3118), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Oct 29, 2005 Bottle (341ml). Thanks to tupalev!. Poured clear gold, bubbly, with a minimal diminishing white head. Aroma is very woody, almost resiny, with cereal notes, maybe a hint of hops - clean, anyway. I guess this is salty - I think of it as cedary - the wood, not the greenery - there’s dry malt, grain ... MOR. Mouthfeel is dryly acidic - overall nothing wrong with it, but it’s a bit harsh and not that enjoyable.
