COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This one of a kind beer is brewed as a pilsner style, and then combined with natural apple juice and essences. Refreshingly smooth with a clean crisp finish, which compliments or combines for cooking with any poultry, pork or seafood dish. Brewed at 4% alc. vol this is the perfect beer alternative for those looking to try something new.

(Bottle) Pours a thin, white frothy head with a golden body. Nose is very artificial... little trace of BEER, but in all honesty there is something going for this beer. It has an overly sweet flavour yet it grows on you - like an over carbonated and malted cider. Really - there must be a huge market for a beer like this.

Nickel Brook is starting to remind me of Nickel Back. One of those things that you hate for being Canadian and giving us a bad name. This smells like apples. Like a strong apple juice. No hint of beer at all. It tastes like "apple flavour". Note apple flavour and not actual apple or apple juice. It reminds me the most of some type of hard candy that was apple flavoured, probably something from Wonka. This is not something I want my beer to taste like. I will admit it is drinkable, which puts it above Chapeau Exotic, but not by much.

473mL can poured straw color with a finger of white head that fell to very light lacing. Aroma was of granny smith apples. Taste was surprising green apples followed by some grain and a light and unexpected hoppy bitterness. Light bodied and moderately carbonated, this was definitely a beer I would like to try again sometime.

Originally rated August 2006. This fruit pilsner pours a clean yellow colour with a nice white creamy head that has very good retention and leaves a beautiful uniform layer of lace all around. Carbonation is very active. The nose is pure candy green apple. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. The taste starts on an apple scent and then lands on a grainy malt flavour. The apple juice is quite present, but not really sweet, just right. A very nice alternative to one of my favorite retired brew... the Niagara Brewery Apple Ale.

Canette 473ml.

473 ml can. Toronto, ON.
Clear pale golden colour with small white head. Apple juice and some apple fruit tea notes in aroma. Green apple juice, malt and tiny hints of dry hops in flavour. Quite OK for a Fruit Beer.

Can. Pours straw-golden. Aroma is overpowering granny smith apple. The sweet apple is all I get in the taste as well, maybe a little bit of grains too. Not my cup of tea.

Bottle from the brewery. Tastes like apple juice with a grainy beer finish. Not big on this sort of thing, but I liked it better than apple juice on its own for what it’s worth. Worth trying.

(Rating #3468)
