muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 4, 2007 Draught pint at Chaucer’s Pub in London, Ontario, June 17 2007. Dark, translucent maple with just a bit of creamy tan head....nicely balanced sweet maple/dark chocolate-roasty aroma.....on the tongue, a sweet front, maple and honey infusing the dark chocolate but gradually disappearing as roasty dark malts appear and the finish is quite dry and rather bitter....thinnish mouthfeel and somewhat oppressive carbonation is the only real problem. Radek Kliber (3284), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 15, 2007 Draught at Volo
Poured clear ruby brown with proper creamy yet smallish top that left decent lacing.
Light, soft woody, nutty aroma with light hints of sweet malts.6,5/10
Medium bodied, clean brew with good smoothness to it. Right dose of bitterness circled around. Dry carbonation showed up at finish. Only faintest hints of what could be maple. Over all solid presentation. I do like clean work and this certainly was.
jerc (3102), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 29, 2007 Very dark brown body with a small creamy tan head. (3+) Good aroma of sweet maple, and vanilla. Sweet flavour, maple fades fast giving way to a roast that while moderate is suprisingly stronger than I expected. Pleasant, but just a bit too sweet. Average to medium palate. Would try again. blankboy (2562), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 30, 2007 Draught at Volo. Pours a clear deep ruby with an average size tan head and decent lacing. Aroma: Wow, there’s actually some roast there along with a little caramel, light coffee and maple syrup. Flavour of lightly roasted caramel malt, some burnt sugar, maple syrup and a hint of smoke. Average bodied. This is much better then I expected, in fact it’s quite good, kudos to Better Bitters for doing something like this and I hope they keep it up. Aroma of milk chocolate, brown sugar, ruby, wearing a tiny tan head. Flavour is a light maple sugar candy, like corner stores used to sell. Syrupy sweet. Fair.
