When creating the recipe for this beer, we bore in mind what one associates with oatmeal. Hence the base was laden with a bunch of oat flakes, roasted malts and roasted barley. The end result reflects this - intensive flavours, a coffee and dark chocolate aroma and a creamy texture. So we would not smother this, we added only as much hops as was needed to delicately balance the flavour.

Draught at the brewery. Black with copper tint, strong beige head, lasts long, lacing not as strong as on smoked porter. Coffee with milk, nuts, some toffee aroma, dark fruits. Sourness and sweetness combined, coffee-like aftertaste, very full body, creamy, delicious.

Bottle from Tallinna Kaubamaja (€ 4,35) in Oct 2014. BB 29.08.15. The memorable label reminds me of Sendak’s "Where the Wild Things Are". Colour: dark brown, black in the glass. Head: tan, thick, stays, leaves some lacing. Aroma: dark bitter chocolate and toffee, slightly ashy roastiness, a bit of hops also detectable. Taste: roasty with moderate chocolaty sweetness, also a presence of herbal-bitter hops, especially in the finish, though it ends with quite some roastiness as well. Very nicely balanced and smooth, low to medium carbonated, slightly sticky mouthfeel with some dryness. Overall a very nice Stout... although forgettable.

Bottle from Borut, thanks! Lots of moccha though more on the chocolate than the coffee side, a vanilla tobacco note and some cherries. Good aroma and flavour depth, slightly chewy body and soft mouthfeel. Light bitter, light sweet. Full of flavour yet laid back. Great stuff.

Bottle in Ljubljana. Pours dark brown with a slowly dissipating light brown head. The aroma is a definite coffee grind impression, roasted to burnt malt, bakers cocoa, earthy hop notes. Some sweetness from the oats in the flavour but predominately bitter, dry, roasted malt. Nice smooth mouthfeel. I had beer geek breakfast earlier tonight, this poor bastard had a hard act to follow.
