COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ond shows our love for smoked and dark beers. Strength-wise, it belongs to robust porters, which means it has a slightly higher alcohol level and a medium body. The smoked character is incorporated into the entire beer and does not obscure the combination of roasted malts that give it a chocolaty and caramely character. To top it all off, we have added a carefully selected combination of Slovene and American hops that together, in the form of a slightly herbal woody note, conclude the complexity of Ond.

33 cl bottle @ olio, BBE 13.10.2014
Aroma is somewhat smoky and peaty with hay and licorice. Flavour has smoked ham, peat and salty licorice. Finishes with herbal tones. Foamy palate. A tad too salty but rather nice still.

(Bevog Ond Smoked Porter) Bottle 330 ml, thanks to Sebiinz! Served into a snifter, ABV 6.3% Dark brown colour on the body, one finger of brown thick head on top. Good retention, medium lacing on the glass. Light smoke on the aroma and lots of chocolate. Taste is the opposite, lots of smoke, lighter chocolate, finishes with roasted malts and light coal. Medium body, good levels of carbonation. Another good beer from Bevog.

Draught @ Haket. Pours dark blackish brown with a rather small beige head that leaves some thick lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and smokey with roasted malts, burnt caramel, smoked meat, moist soil and hints of ash. Taste is slightly bitter and malty with roasted malts, smoke, minerals, moist soil, ash, burnt wood and hints of metal. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, slightly roasted astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with roasted malts, burnt caramel, smoke, moist soil, minerals, hay and ash. Not much to say about this. Goes down easily but the label is far more interesting than the beer...

Bottle from the York Beer & Wine Shop. Pours black with tan froth. The taste is a little acidic sharpness to begin with. Burnt notes come in after with caramel. Plenty of woody flavour too. Thin in body. I’d hoped for more from this.
