Cask at the Pigs Ear BF 2012 - London. Pours clear, red-gold with a light, white film head. Big pine aroma, some caramel, toast, ripe fruits. Big sweet flavor with ripe fruits, pine, light dirt, rich bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sticky and resinous to finish with more heavy pine, bread, berries, a bit of dryness. Good.

Gravity, Leicester BF, 22/03/13. Muddy orange under a cream top. Perfumed guava, blackcurrant, grenadine and chilli citrus nose. Same taste backed with husky malt base; some smoked pepper fruit; orange and grapefruit; leafy and strawberry notes ladled with honey. Fine, rounded brew.

Gravity Dispense at Pig’s Ear BF, London - 05/12/12. Lightly obscured dark brown with reddish hues - head quickly clears to zero. Nose is malt forward, caramel, pine, hops, jam. Taste is bitter fruits, hops, Frank Coopers Seville orange marmalade, bitter grapefruit, sweet jamminess. Full end of medium bodied, sweet and bitter in the finish. Decent.

Pigs Ear. Clear dark amber beer, no real head. Semi dry palate. Smooth dry malts, rich and showing some toffee. Dark marmalade hops turning sweeter. Trace of brandy underneath. Not bad but needs something to bring it together.

Tap at Pig’s Ear 2012. Reddish brown in colour. Nice firm malt, lovely hop character with pine and spruce, a tiny citrus hint, bitter finish. Surprisingly easy drinking and certainly doesn’t taste the abv. Now if you took a beer with such an aggressive name to the States they might be a bit disappointed by the lack of extreme flavours...but they should just agree it’s a very nice well balanced beer.
